A/N : ok, so I've decided to make my chapters much longer from now on so enjoy!

"Hange!", Historia called, chasing her through the courtyard, after she had spotted her though the living room window.
"Yes, what is it?", Hange asked, turning around.
"Were you the one who was experimenting on Ymir?", Historia questioned as she caught her breath.
"I was. She was a great subject too", Hange grinned; a hint of madness could be seen shining out her eyes.
"Shouldn't you carry out more experiments trying to find out about Marley?", Historia suggested, "I'll help. I'm sure I can get Ymir to give us information".
"My Queen", Hange sighed, "I think it's best that you don't get too attached to Ymir for your own good. It will just make it painful when you have to pick a suitor".

Historia's heart dropped; she had forgotten that she was expected to have children in order to pass on her royal blood to the next generation, for the good of Paradis. Her longing for Ymir really was just going to be destructive.

"I don't care. I promise to do what's best for Paradis. I promise to pick a suitor. Just let me see Ymir more often", Historia sighed, refusing to make eye contact with Hange.
"If that's what you wish", Hange replied, "just remember that Paradis is relying on you. Don't let your emotions get us all killed".
Her glare was genuinely serious for once and Historia could almost feel the burden of her whole kingdom.
"I understand, Commander Hange", Historia nodded.
"Alright", Hange said.

"I was wondering", Historia said, "do you think it would help Ymir remember things if I dressed myself in a way that's familiar to her?".
"Perhaps", Hange told her, "It's worth a try. Do you have a particular outfit in mind?"
"Yes, when I moved here, I decided to keep a certain set of clothes I had", Historia said with a slight blush, "there's a certain outfit that may give Ymir an important memory from before she left".
"Alright then, we'll try it out tomorrow", Hange smiled, "Your Highness' help will be much appreciated".

Ymir sat in her cell, examining the the bandage which wrapped her hands. She could feel that two of her fingers weren't there and weren't coming back and the feeling was completely new to her.

'I suppose my powers are really gone, then', she thought, 'I wonder if the curse still applies to me'.

She tried to think back to what had happened back in Marley but all her memories were blurred. She remembered being told that Porco was going to inherit her titan and she could feel an aching wound on her nape so what she had said about the spinal fluid was more of an educated guess. All she knew was that she no longer had the power to heal her wounds - not that she even cared. To be honest, at the moment, she didn't really have a reason to live.

She remembered running until her legs felt as if they would fall off and she remembered having a painful ache in her head. Sneaking onto one of the ships headed for Paradis seemed like the most logical thing to do at the time, although she had no idea why that was.

The door into dungeon opened as Commander Hange entered and behind her was a small figure. At first, Ymir couldn't make out who it was, in the dark, torch-lit room, but after squinting at the figure, she noticed its familiar golden hair and sapphire eyes. It was the Queen.

Ymir noticed that, this time, the Queen's hair was out and it hung down her back. She was also dressed in a simple white shirt and a pink skirt, which looked as though the bottom had been messily ripped off above the knee, revealing brown, laced boots underneath. Had Ymir not seen the Queen before, she would have thought that she was a simple farm girl.
