Chapter 2

We flew home, Tycho in my arms since he was a cat. 

"So, this is where you live."

"Yeah."

"Looks cosy."

"Yep."

"Did I hear you say you had a brother? Ryan?"

"Yes, but he's probably not a draconic."

"That's too bad."

We walked inside, then I let Tycho jump out of my arms. He scurried away. "Finally, you guys are home! Where were you?" Ryan asked annoyedly. 

"How should I tell him we got you?"

"Animal shelter maybe?"

"Oh, um, we were at an animal shelter. We adopted a cat there. His name's Tycho." I said in short, quick sentences. "He's cute, from the blur of him I saw." Ryan said back, almost sounding a little annoyed. "I guess I'll go find out where he dashed off to." I said quickly, then ran into the kitchen. I saw Tycho trying to open the fridge.

"And what do you think you're doing?""

"Ummm......."

"You could just ask for me to give you some food."

"But then I wouldn't have as much pride, because I required help from a human." (Dragons are very proud creatures and hate needing help)

"Well, I'm a draconic."

"Still, getting help in  general."

I rolled my eyes. "Nyra, come here please." Mom's voice called into the kitchen.

"I'll be keeping an eye on you."

"But once you enter the living room you won't be able to see me."

I sighed, then walked into the living room. "What is it?" I asked.

"I wonder if it's Meecha...."

I tried to ignore Tycho's random sentence, but it stuck in my head.

"Who's Meecha?"

"My younger sister...."

"Well, Ryan says he also went to the shelter and got a pet." Mom said, a little puzzled. "Can I see it?"   I asked. "If you can catch her. She's really lively. Her name's Meecha." Ryan said. I saw a white blur that I assumed was Meecha zoom by.

"Meecha, as in your younger sister who's turned herself into a cat Meecha?"

"Yeah, I'd bet so."

"Come here Meecha!" I shouted as I dashed after Meecha.

After almost thirty minutes of chasing Meecha, I trapped her in a corner and finally caught her. "I got her!" I wheezed, almost breathless. "Good catch," Ryan mumbled. "Aw, she's so cute!" Mom and Dad said simultaneously. After a few moments with Ryan and Meecha staring at each other, Ryan walked over to me. "I'll take Meecha up to my room. Hopefully she'll calm down a little." He said, taking Meecha out of my arms then dashing into to his room. As I turned away, I heard a door slam. 

"I wonder what that was all about."

"Well, if I knew I would tell you."

"Sure you would."

"Well, on a different note, was that your sister?"

I heard a lot of purring from Ryan's room.
