THE NEXT DAY, ADELAINE PREPARED ALL OF MICHAEL'S favorites for breakfast, such as French toast and a steaming cup of hot chocolate. She woke up a bit earlier than him, struggling to get out of bed and out of his arms as quietly as she can so she wouldn't wake him up. The ginger tied her hair up in a messy bun as she cracked the egg, pouring it into the frying pan. Her thoughts went back to last'nights events, and she couldn't help but feel her heartbeat quicken. It wasn't much, but the Langdon boy told her that he liked her as well. She felt giddy and excited on the inside, the sweetness invading her tongue. It felt good to feel real happiness for once. But somehow, something inside of her was telling her that it wouldn't last, like a static-y feeling before a huge storm.
Grabbing a pinch of salt, Adelaine tensed for a bit when strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind, a warm body pressing to her back. But she relaxed when Michael's blond hair tickled the side of her face as he rested his head on the crook of her neck. The ginger chuckled as she flipped the egg, the smell wafting through the room.
"Good morning, Michael," She greeted him, craning her head to the side slightly. The light blue color of the blond's eyes filled her vision, because of the proximity of their heads. There was a smile on the Langdon boy's lips as his gaze flitted from her eyes down to her lips.
"Good morning, Adelaine," Adelaine's wild heart calmed down a bit when he looked around the small kitchen, "What are you making?"
"Your favorite, of course," She gestured towards the untopped French toast on the side of the counter. Michael's eyes sparkled as he made his way towards the food. "What do you want for lunch later?"
The blond glanced at her briefly, "Chicken and soup will be nice."
"Okay," The ginger nodded her head as she transferred the cooked egg to a round white plate. She placed the plate on the table, as well as the syrup for the toast. The Langdon boy was already sitting in the dining table, grasping the mythology book that she was reading when she woke up.
His eyebrows scrunched together in confusion as he read something from the book, "Elysium?"
Adelaine walked towards Michael, holding the cup of hot chocolate in her hands, "It's a paradise. Elysium was said to be a happy place where virtuous and heroic souls go to after they die," She bit her lips, taking a sip from her orange juice, "Kinda like Heaven, I suppose."
The blond took all the information in, "Do you believe that this Elysium – or Heaven exists?"
"I guess," The ginger shrugged, glancing at the Langdon boy who was now looking at her attentively, anticipating what she was about to say, "I mean if I die, I'd love to go somewhere happy, you know? A place where I can finally find peace."
