ADELAINE WOKE UP IN MICHAEL'S BED, her body tucked comfortably underneath his warm, silky sheets. But the blond and Ms. Mead were nowhere to be found. In fact, the whole Outpost seemed empty, the silence deafening as she throw away the sheets from her body and her bare feet landed on the cool floor. Even Ms. Venable's corpse was nowhere to be found, the memory of her death almost made her nauseaous again, but she swallowed the bile that rose up to her throat. Taking a deep breath, the ginger soundlessly made it out of Michael's room and into the dimly-lit hallways.
"Michael?" She called out quietly, straining her ears for any sound. But no one answered her call, her voice echoing against the emptiness and silence, "Michael?"
She made her way to Coco and Gallant's room, but they were empty. In fact, there was no one in sight. The Outpost looked like it had been uninhabited for a long time now. Adelaine panicked a bit at the realization, wondering if Michael had left her there as a way of killing her. The cannibals had probably arrived and were waiting for her in the corner. She shivered at the thought of being eaten alive.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a young boy with blond hair pushing past her and running towards the end of the long hallway.
"Kid!" The ginger went after him, picking up the ends of her long dress so she wouldn't trip as she picked up her pace, "Hey, wait!"
The young boy stopped and looked up at her with doe-like brown eyes. He was wearing a white-button up shirt and black dress pants that almost reminded her of Michael. Adelaine wondered briefly if this was Michael when he was young, but the kid's brown eyes did not add up.
"Do you know where everyone is?" The boy nodded his head in response as his small hand reached for the ginger's. She gripped it reluctantly and allowed the kid to lead her to her lover and the others. Weirdly, the ginger felt an energy shoot up from her hand to her body when his skin touched hers. But she ignored it when he stopped in front of the door at the end of the hallway.
"They're here?" All Adelaine got was another nod as she stared at it apprehensively. Surprisingly, the door opened on its own, the creaking echoing against the whole Outpost. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she spotted Mallory under the water of circular basin. A witch with red hair – who she recognized as Myrtle – was watching over the brunette witch. A familiar blonde witch, her sister Cordelia, was lying on the floor with a knife sticking out of her chest. Her breath hitched in her throat when she noticed Michael at the doorway, looking defeated. As Mallory emerged from the water, Adelaine watched the blond disappear into dust, like he was erased from existence. Tears leaked out of her eyes as she watched the love of her life become nothing.
