Really just Revenge? (Wonhui)

Moving on

He started to spend more and more time with Junhui. At first, they met nearly every weekend and after a while, Junhui would pick him up from work to go for a walk in the park or he would go over to Junhui to just spend a little time together before Junhui had to go to work (Sometimes he would do Junhui's make-up when Junhui wanted to).

And only after a few days he thought less and less about Mingyu. 

He eats breakfast, drives to work with public transport, cooks for himself and Seongcheol and now also Junhui sometimes, he cleans the flat. And only once or twice does a thought of Mingyu pop up in his head. Only when the situation reminds him so much of Mingyu that he can't help but think back how it would be if he was still dating Mingyu.

But he wasn't dating Mingyu anymore. He also wasn't officially a couple with Junhui either. He was somewhere in between which makes him anxious. He does not feel completely ready to commit this soon but he does not want to lose Junhui either. So he goes out with Junhui and the thought of agreeing to officially date Junhui is always in his head but Junhui never says a word about it. Maybe because he can imagine what Wonwoo feels, maybe because he's unsure himself still.

After three weeks he nearly wasted no thought on Mingyu at all. He's not thinking about Mingyu usually driving him to work when he now drives by public transport. Situations that used to remind him of Mingyu are now just usual everyday situations.

It is his favourite coffee shop because it has the best simple black coffee and not because Mingyu showed him. He likes the barista because she's friendly and has nicely braided hair.
It is the only coloured hoodie he has. It's not important that he got it from Mingyu.
He's cooking that meal because he likes it and not because he's used to cooking it for Mingyu.

Nothing in his life has to do with Mingyu anymore except the nagging thoughts that are way in the back of his head for moments he's alone and can't help but think back. He allows himself those small moments but the rest of his life belongs to himself, to his friends, to Junhui.

And after a while, he starts to realise that he moved on. He was over Mingyu. All those things he always tried to do to move on...he's not trying anymore, he was actually doing it. He lived his life without Mingyu and he does not think about him constantly anymore. He was once and for all over Mingyu.

It took him a while to realise that. Seongcheol actually noticed it first. He noticed how easy smiling and laughing was for Wonwoo again and how Wonwoo wouldn't mention Mingyu anymore but rather talk about Junhui.

And Junhui did notice too. He had noticed that Wonwoo loved reading and took him on a date to a book store. While they were wandering through the store and Wonwoo would mention which books he had already read and added little things he remembered about the books or tell Junhui which books he still wanted to read. And then he stopped at one particular book and frowned.

"I remember that book, I'm sure I got it for my birthday but I don't know from who", he had mumbled.

"Seongcheol? Your parents?", Junhui tried to help him remember but Wonwoo shakes his head.

Then, suddenly, he gasps and then he laughs sadly.

"Mingyu bought it for me", he says.

"But I didn't even remember."

That's when Junhui noticed that Wonwoo had stopped mentioning Mingyu to a point that he started to forget about Mingyu.

And Wonwoo had realised it in that moment too. Mingyu wasn't the most important thing on his mind anymore. He's glad that after all this time he was finally able to move on. With Junhui by his side it became easier and easier to just live on.

He told Junhui about his thoughts one afternoon. They were sitting on a bench in the park, he had his head in Junhui's lap while he talked and talked until he had all those feelings off his chest. And Junhui listened.

They walked home arm in arm. Junhui had asked if he wanted to stay at his place and Wonwoo said yes. He knew what they'd probably do - they havened done it since that one night - and he was more than okay with it.

And then when they nearly arrived at Junhui's apartment, they ran into Mingyu.
