It was a marvellous sight. Orange-yellow light slowly melted into shades of red as the sun slowly disappeared from the horizon.

A dog with a white pelt with dried blood, and a tuxedo cat sat beside each other, admiring the sunset.

"You are right, Paddy," Stripes meowed. "It is very beautiful here."

Paddy nodded. "It... reminds me of the past."

He sighed. "It hurts."

"I wish I could have helped you," Stripes meowed sadly. "But..."

"Say no more," Paddy said. "No matter what you think, you did help me. You made me realise what was important to me that I unknowingly ignored. I'm happy to have a friend like you."

"T-thank you," Stripes sounded startled. "You have been a good friend to me too... you told me about yourself, and tried to help me cope with my grief. I... can't thank you enough."

"Then we are even," Paddy smiled. "Let's us enjoy the sunset while it lasts. We are going home tomorrow."

The two friends sat together, their eyes fixed on the beautiful sight before them.

Frost, who had been watching them with a meaningful smile on her face, turned around.

"When hope seems lost, remember this day, and it will open your eyes once again," she whispered, disappearing completely.
