"Are you sure this is necessary?" Fern asked, annoyed. "If you ask me, your idea is absolutely ridiculous!"
"We just have to make it work," Frost said, walking. "In such times, we need to find more allies."
Fern had her doubts. "Monsters have been our enemies for centuries, from the beginning of time! What makes you think you can convince them?"
"Most of the overworld monsters have some sort of monarchy. They follow a king, and if the king dies, they will follow the one with power, whether by force or choice. Trance is an example."
"Your point?" Fern questioned, staring at the walls of the cave they entered.
"I think the zombies might be willing to work with us, since Trance is out of the picture for now. Technically, they also have a debt to pay to us." Frost stopped in front of a litted cavern.
"I get your point," Fern said. "You sure don't waste your time."
Frost did not respond, only silently surveying the cavern. "Looks empty..." she muttered, more to herself.
"There aren't many places they can hide," Fern sighed, taking out something. It was a block of TNT.
She threw it towards a wall and fired a flame arrow at it. The blast destroyed the wall, sending bits of stone flying. Smirking, she took the lead. "They are over here."
Frost followed, and realised that Fern was right. She saw the group of zombies that once worked for Trance, tensing at the sight of them.
"We are not here to fight," she said, stepping forward. It did little to cease the suspicions of the zombies.
"Unless you want me to arrange it," Fern said, smirking. "I will gladly do it."
Out of fear, the zombies lowered their weapons. Sergeant looked hesitant, but he stepped forward to face them. "What do you want?" he growled.
"I'm here to offer a proposition," Frost said. "You are no longer following Trance, but what you helped him to achieve cannot be forgotten."
Sergeant flinched, but he stood his ground. "What do you want from us?"
"An alliance," Frost said simply. "A dark cloud is shrouding this world once more, and your help is needed to ensure peace stays in this world."
"Of course, you don't just follow anyone. Before this, you were ruled the Zombie King, who was slained by the Skeleton King shortly after. One day, the Skeleton King was defeated." Her gaze reached the eyes of the zombies.
"I was the one who killed him."
Sergeant looked surprised. The zombies behind him began whispering among themselves, rather unconvinced by Frost's words.
"I'm a witness to that," Fern added.
Sergeant turned around and joined in the discussion in hushed voices. After a while, he turned back to them.
"So it is true," he muttered. "A human did avenge our king..."
"Need more convincing?" Fern asked, her words carrying a hint of a threat.
"No, we have decided to join your alliance, to repay our debt to you," Sergeant said quickly.
"Thank you for accepting. Please step forward, Sergeant Grasswood." The zombie did as he was told.
Frost mentioned for him to stick out his arm. When he did, he found that a strange mark appeared there.
"I hereby appoint you as the general of the zombies. You are in charge of leading your army to assist your other allies and you will act as the ambassador between the monsters - who wish to join - and the humans," Frost announced formally.
"It is my honour to serve you," General Grasswood said, bowing. The other zombies did the same.
Frost gave him a brisk nod. "We will talk again soon. Until then, prepare for war."
In a bright flash of light, Frost and Fern disappeared.
