Chapter three : Emiline
Sitting on a rock by the sparkling ponds of this courtyard was quite peaceful. I could almost hear the angles of this garden singing softly to me. When I lifted my gaze so did the clouds. Their puff of cotton candy was a light blue that made me smile. The breeze blew past every now and again reminding me I had yet to talk to the creatures.
I was sitting there silently watching the pond when a squirrel scampered past and rested on my knee. Orange fur and a white belly. It's tiny claws latched onto my fingers and started nipping at my olive skin.
"Such amusing creatures they are aren't they?" Her melodic voice rang through the air and into my ears.
The squirrel ran away at the sudden sound,"That they are."
Sister Edna sat in the flat rock beside me,"And every creature has its place in this world."
I had to think for a moment. Was she trying to imply something or was I simply reading into something that wasn't there,"Yes Sister, just as everything that happened has happened for a reason."
"Are you excited for the Lunar Siorèe Sister?"
"That I am." I smiled at the pond. It was a white lie, simply put, if I was to see another day in my home land then, yes, I am very excited.
"I'm glad."
We sat in silence for a while more before I broke it,"Sister, was it you who requested the maids not wake me until after dawn?" My voice was light and innocent, but under all those layers of truth there'd be a lie. I was not happy. In fact, I was very unhappy.
"Yes, That was I."
"If I may be so bold as to ask, why make such a request Sister?" I may have been younger but I knew what she was trying to do. At least, I think I did.
"The Empress Mailine was most displeased with your actions the other week."
"What actions?"
"Exactly, you were invited to the Empress's birthday. You rejected the proposal, why is that?"
"I had plans to visit the Duke and Dutches of Edembra, a meeting stating weather or not our to families would one day be able to join. I don't think I recall you attending that meeting either Sister... Why is that?" I raised one brow and watched as she stiffened and looked past me and into the clouds a blush staining her cheeks,"Dear Sister you should know how much I love you and I do not blame you for not attending, you were in no position too, but please don't do something so rash just to prove a point."
"You'll be Queen someday."
"Edna..."
"You don't seem to realise your duty to the Kingdom is of far more importance then your idealism of this Fantasia you seem to live in."
"Sister," I made a stand. I would not have her accuse me of such a thing,"To say I'm incompetent is a very big accusation. I'll have you know weather I stroll in the garden at night or dawn is non of your concern, nor should it be of any harm."
"Things happen in the dead of night."
"So to do things happen on the brightest of days."
Sister Edna sighed,"I love you sister. You know I love you."
"That I do."
