Chapter 5

Athena woke up sometime in the middle of the night coughing. Its been three days since they left the hotel, She'd crawled in bed with Liam earlier as she'd been throwing up and needed the cuddles. "Daddy." Athena whined. Liam was awake. He's been awake all night. Watching Athena sleep, and listening to that horrible breathing.

"What is it kitten?" Liam asked softly brushing back her hair.

"I sick." She mumbled.

"I know you are sweetheart." Liam whispered and glanced at his phone screen.

'Hows the little one doing?' It was from Niall.

Liam didn't respond right away, he'd been texting him all night, whilst Athena slept. "I not wanna go mummy house morrow." She mumbled looking for her dummy.

"I know you dont kitten... but mummy really misses you." Liam whispered softly.

"Not care. Stay daddys." She mumbled softly. Liam brushed back her hair. Liam smiled a little at her. He would love his daughters to live here with him. He just didnt have the money, nor the time. He had to work and he could only put off not going in for so long.

"Well... you need to go stay with mummy for her turn sweet... it's just a few weeks... and then daddy can come and pick you up." He kissed her head gently.

"Why we gotta live wif mummy?" She asked pressing her burning hot cheek against daddys chest. Liam could feel how hot she was through his shirt.

"Because mummy doesn't have to work sweetheart." Liam whispered softly. Liam's phone rang again. He ignored it. "Go to sleep kitten." Athena just looked at Liam and nodded some before she snuggled up and went to sleep.

Liam replied to the message from Niall quickly, first.

'Yeah babe shes doing fine c: ' they weren't official, nor will they ever be. Liam thought this was fun, their little relationship, but Niall was a popstar and Liam was a father.

He then checked his messages from Sophia. Five of them, exactly.

'When are you dropping off the girls tomorrow?'

'hows Athie doing?'

'Liam, seriously answer.'

'Persephone has to go school shopping tomorrow. Danny is going to stay with Athena.'

'you can keep her a few extra hours if you wish.'

Liam shut his phone off and sighed softly. He was just hoping to get through the night without being thrown up on again.

Niall was trying to finish the bridge on this song. He'd been in the studio since eight-thiry that morning. He'd just been worried about Liam and Athena. He knew Liam was having a difficult time caring for her. Athena didn't make it very easy on him from what Liam was telling Niall.

'Can I call?' Niall texted. Maybe he could help a bit with putting her to sleep.

'Yeah, she cant sleep'

Niall dialled the number and smiled when he heard the little voice, Niall helped Liam put to sleep since they met. "Hey sweetheart. How are you feeling?"

"I sick." Athena mumbled.

"Well why doesn't NiNi play you something on the piano?"

"Yeah NiNi." She mumbled softly. Niall smiled and put the phone on speaker. He sat it down on the top of the piano ledge and began playing the intro to one of the songs on Harry and He's album. It had a simple intro, and Niall had learned it was Athena's favourite to fall asleep to. Niall only hopes he can play it for her in real time. Where he can watch the little girl fall asleep in his lap as Liam watched with Persephone on his hip.

Niall loved that thought. "Tank yew NiNi." She yawned.

"No problem sweetie. Now let daddy sleep alright? You try to get some yourself."

"Okay NiNi."

Niall smiled as he hung up the phone and let them both sleep.

It was a friday morning, the last friday of Persephone's summer. Which means, Liam will only really get to see his daughters on the weekends. "Kitten." Liam smiled having woken up actually just a bit rested. Athena stirred just a little, opening her eyes to look at daddy as she sucked tiredly on the dummy. "Do you wanna stay with daddy whilst mummy takes Persephone shopping?" He asked softly.

Athena nodded. Liam sent a text to Sophia, asking her to come and pick Persephone up in about an hour. They'd all just hung out in their jammies, Persephone colouring in her colouring books, and Athena on Liam's knee. Persephone had actually gotten dressed since she'd be leaving with Sophia. "Why do I have to go with mummy, daddy? And Athie gets to stay here." She didn't look up from her colouring page.

"Athie is going to be there later sweetheart. You're going school shopping."

"I just went shoppinggggg." She groaned rolling over on her back dramatically. Liam laughed softly.

"You went shopping for clothes at daddy's house."

"But can't I wear those clothes to school so I can stay here just until tonightttt?" She whined softly. Liam shook his head a little.

"Those clothes have to stay at daddy's sweetheart."

"But whyyyyy. I wanna spend more time with youuuu." She giggled as Liam heard the doorbell.

"Well we'll have to figure something out later princess. Go grab your bag." Liam said softly getting up to answer the door. "Come in she's grabbing her stuff."

Sophia stepped in, glancing around. "Thanks for keeping Athena." She smiled some. "Ill stop by and pick her up later."

"I can drop her off tomorrow after lunch." Liam smiled. "Athena and I are going to see someone tomorrow."

Sophia nodded and tucked back her hair. "Do you think you can watch them this weekend?"

"Sophia. I have to work." Liam sighed as Athena laid her head on daddys shoulder.

"Its just a few hours." She bit her lip.

"I have to work." Liam repeated. "They've been on my arse all fucking week Sophia. I have to take double shifts this entire week." Liam glanced at her.

"And I have to host a gallery this weekend. I cant take them to the gallery with me." Sophia tried to get her point across.

"Yeah and I work in a fucking pub Sophia. You know this. I cant take the girls with me. And my mum isnt going to be home this weekend. I cant have her watch them."

Sophia shook her head and sighed. "Alright whatever, ill have Danny watch them."

"You know I don't trust him around them,"

"What else am I supposed to do?" Sophia sighed running a hand through her hair. "Ill see if mum can watch them."

"Alright." Liam said softly and kissed the top of Persephone's head. "Okay sweetie, have fun with mummy. I love you."

"Love you too daddy!" Persephone shouted as Sophia led her to the car.

Liam shut the door and looked at Athena. "We're gunna see NiNi tomorrow."
