Hi guys! I hope all is going well! This is the new book that continues on from "the impossible case of Amnesia" it would make more sense if you read that before reading this book. Just so you know what's going on. Anyway I hope you guys enjoy this!
It had been a month since...the incident. Webby was still in the hospital. She had stoped breathing again twice since they've been there. They've run so many tests on her that she's beginning to fear she would never make it out of this prison. Yep, that's right. Webbigail Vanderquack was....................afraid. She never would've thought she would ever be in this kind of situation. Especially with granny training her for all these years. Unfortunately, this is one thing granny never taught her. How not to be afraid. However, Webby had every right to be afraid. There could be something seriously wrong with her. Why didn't she listen to Huey right from the beginning? Or better yet why was she even alive? Wouldn't it be better for everyone if she just died when she fell out of the plane? Wouldn't it be better for everyone if she wasn't ever born at all? Webby certainly thought so. As she was finishing up her final test, they put her back into the wheelchair. It felt so weird being carried by a doctor. Usually she was perfectly capable of walking herself but now.................now she was useless.
Everyone was waiting outside the room. Dewey and Scrooge paced back and forth, wondering when Webby was to escape this hospital of pain. Wondering if she would escape this hospital of pain. Dewey was worried sick for his best friend. Who would comfort him when he's sad? Who would believe him when he said there was a monster under his bed? Who would he solve mysteries with? Scrooge was also worried sick. He had spent so many years ignoring her, even though she was the kindest little soul you'll ever meet. Truth is, Scrooge was afraid of her. Not just because she would strike hard and possibly...well...kill her enemies. But also because Webby reminded him a lot ofDella
Della too, was adventurous, supportive and kind. Webby was just like Della. That's what Scrooge was afraid of. He spent so many years trying to bring Della back that he didn't realise there was one living in his own mansion.
Donald was sitting on a chair with his head in his hands as Louie fell asleep leaning against him. Donald, like most ducks waiting, was in deep thought. Della: Adventurous, kind, supportive. Webby: adventurous, kind, supportive. What was the difference? There was none. So many years he spent sulking over the disappearance of his slightly younger, twin sister. So many years he hid the boys from the truth. He didn't want them to get hurt. But now..............................it was too late. Webby meant so much to the boys and Donald couldn't even take not one minute to sit down and have a chat with her. just to get to know the young girl. He could have even just taken a second. But no. He was too caught up in his endless sulking to even notice her. Why? Why couldn't it be him?
True, Louie was sleeping but that didn't mean the pain was gone. Louie was shaking and squinting his eyes while leaning on Donald. He knew Webby was ok. He saw her everyday. So why was he so afraid? Louie's afraid with most things but for some reason he has no idea why is afraid with this. As he was sleeping he was dreaming............no...........he was having a nightmare. Of Webby. She was tied up on a chair, unconscious and with every step Louie took to try and save her, he only got further away.
Huey sat on the other side of Donald with his hat over his head. He was the eldest, how could he let this happen? Even though he knew she was going to be okay. It was scary, especially knowing she had stopped breathing more than once in the past month. That wasn't normal. She had CPR done on her three times. THREE! Something was definitely wrong and while Huey wanted to find out what it was, he couldn't, no matter how hard he tried.
Mrs Beakly stood leaning against the wall, in deep thought. This was all her fault. She was meant to train Webby for every situation so that she wouldn't get hurt. But yet, here they were. Sitting in the hospital waiting on the horrible fate that might become of Webby. Everyone in Duckburg now knew about the incident. Almost everyday Webby was sent gifts. Like flowers and cards from everyone. Even Panchitos, Jose, Gladstone and Goldie heard about it. As a matter of fact. They were in the hospital sitting with the McDuck family. There to support. There to protect. Panchitos and Jose never really got to know the girl but they did know that she was tough. One of the toughest young warriors they have ever met. As for Gladstone he knew the whole time. Right from the moment he met her. Right from the moment he was saved from the luck vampire. He knew that she was tough. He knew that a lot of people cared for her and he knew she had so much to live for.
Goldie didn't know much about Webby. In fact, she wasn't even planning on coming to Duckburg she just chose the wrong flight. But yet she was still there to support. Why? Well that's still unknown but she was in Duckburg anyway, so she may as well show her support, even though it lacked a little. She never really knew the girl. All Goldie knew was that Webby was tough. Surprisingly, it wasn't easy tying her up in those ropes and shoving her in the closet. The young warrior put up quite a fight. The door squeaked open and although it was as quiet as a mouse, it was still loud enough to wake Louie from his nightmare. They all stood up and stared then sighed in relief, seeing Webby come out in the same wheelchair she had been in all month. They were so relieved. It could have been worse. She might not have come out of that room at all, though Webby sort of hoped that happened. She thought it would be better for everyone if she wasn't around. The triplets immediately ran up to her and hugged her tightly. "Webby! Your okay!" Dewey yelled. "Hehe. Hey guys." Webby didn't sound too happy and although she was smiling, they knew there was something wrong. "Hey. Are you okay?" Huey asked. "Yeah...Yeah." She took a deep breathe. "I'm fine." She didn't want to let them know she was afraid. She didn't want to let her guard down. True, she was in a wheelchair, but that doesn't mean she can't protect them. She was still going to protect, no matter how many times they said they don't need protecting. This was the only family Webby had left, she wasn't going to lose them. She would protect them, even with her life.
Dewey, Huey and Louie wheeled Webby back to her hospital room where more gifts would await her from the kind citizens of Duckburg. As the others followed, Scrooge was held up. "Ahem. Mr McDuck. A word?" Scrooge froze. This was the moment he was waiting for. All the answers to his questions. Was Webby okay? What happened to her? Why so many tests? "Uncle Scrooge are you coming?" Donald asked as they all stopped, waiting for the duck to follow. "I'll meet you there, lad. Just something to deal with here." They all nodded and walked off. Mrs Beakly payed no attention to the doctor and Scrooge. She thought Scrooge would just be paying for the appointment. But that wasn't the case.
"So. What's wrong with her?" Scrooge asked, eager for the answer, yet afraid of what it could be. "Well, I have good news and bad news. Which would you like first?" Great! Scrooge should've known. He may be old but he's seen enough moving pictures to know that every doctor says that. Why didn't he see it coming? "The good news, I guess." Scrooge didn't want to admit it. Not even to himself. But he was afraid of what the bad news was. He was avoiding it. As important as it was and as much as he wanted to know. He was avoiding it. "Well, the good news is there aren't any............major............damages. There's a big sore on the top of head. Continue to bandage that and it will be ok. Her arm is fractured and she'll need to come back in about a month or so for another check-up." Scrooge sighed, relieved. Yes, Webby had a sore on her head and she was unable to move her arm but as the doctor said. There were no major damages. Whatever that meant. "And the............bad news?" This was it. The moment he had been waiting for. The answers to all his questions. "Well Mr McDuck you see..." the doctor put her head down, which was a symbol to Scrooge that it wasn't just bad news it was terrible. That look to the floor gave Scrooge a fright. "You should sit down." The doctor suggested. This made Scrooge even more nervous than he already was. What happened to Webby? What's going to happen to her? Will she ever be the same again? Why is he questioning so much? Scrooge has never had this much questions before, not even on any adventure. However, he couldn't help it. All these questions, they crowded his mind as he awaited the doctors answer. Finally she opened her mouth,"She............"
