Chapter 4 The Duel

An hour had passed and it was time for our duel. I went to the training grounds only to see that news of our duel had spread fast, nearly the entire town was here, "word spreads fast here" I said to myself, "yeah, news gets around, especially when it's about two S-Rank adventurers dueling" Aitami said, which startled me because I wasn't expecting an answer, "so your an S-Rank to, no wonder half the city is here" I said jokingly, "yeah, anyway, let's get on with our duel" she said getting serious, I got serious to, letting my aura run free (A\N he has to suppress his aura as to not draw monsters to the area over time, but short periods are okay) which caused the crowd to back, up giving us plenty of space to fight, "before we start, let me do something" I said as kneeling down to create a large scale transparent barrier around the battlefield as to protect the citizens, "there done, now we can sta-" I was interrupted by sword thrust almost through my side, but managed to dodge just in time, but she spun around and did a horizontal slash making a gash on my right side, I winced in pain, but thanks to my high defense I didn't feel it to much, I then proceeded to use my [SHADOW MAGIC] to restrain her with tentacle like shadows while I used [DARK MAGIC] to heal myself with dark heal, but the restraints didn't hold long, she got out and dashed at me again, but this time I was prepared, and I used [KAME HAME HA] she managed to dodge it but didn't realize that was just a decoy for the shadow magic move [SHADOW MANIPULATION] it allows me to take control of the opponents body using a shadow which is lengthened by how many shadows it passes through, but she was close enough so it didn't need any (A\N and yes I took inspiration from the Naruto move "shadow possession jutsu" deal with it) after I had taken control of her body I held her sword up to her own throat "I believe I've won" I stated nonchalantly, "alright, I give up" Aitami said, with that I put down the barrier and released her body, "you really are strong" she complimented, "can I join your party?" she asked, I paused for a moment to think about it and decided, "sure" I agreed, "thank you!" I heard her yell to me as I start walking to the inn, "no problem, are you coming?" I asked, "coming where?" She wondered, "to do a quest" I replied, "oh okay, I'll be right there" she said as she sheathed her sword and caught up with me.
