"How am I going to tell everyone how I feel?" Rosepaw asked himself. "I want to tell Alderstripe, but I don't know what he'll say."
He stopped.
"I mean...Is he gay too?"
Rosepaw shook his head. "Of course he isn't! Rosepaw you are so stupid! Why would you think that he's gay? He won't love you! He'll just think you're weird! Great StarClan! What is happening to me?!" He thought for a moment. Then, he decided. "I'm going to keep it a secret."

A few moons later, Rosepaw stuck his head pout of the den to Heartstar calling a meeting.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own pray, join beneath the high-lege for a Clan meeting." Heartstar called. Rosepaw rushed out of the Apprentices' den. Patchpaw followed him out.
After everycat had settled, Heartstar spoke. "We are making two new warriors today. Patchpaw, please step forward."
With a squeal of joy, Patchpaw bounced forward. "Branchfall." Heartstar asked the gray tabby warrior. "Is Patchpaw ready to become a warrior? Has she passed her final assessment?"
"Yes she has Heartstar." Branchfall purred.
"Then, by the powers of StarClan, I hail Patchpaw by her new name. From this moment on, she will be known as Patchfrost. StarClan honors your intelligence and kindness, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan."
Heartstar touched his muzzle to Patchfrost's nose and she licked his shoulder in response.
"Rosepaw, come forward." Rosepaw did, very slowly. "Graytail." Heartstar asked. "Is Rosepaw ready to become a warrior? Has he passed his final assessment?"
"Yes Heartstar." Graytail purred. "He did it very well."
"Then, by the powers of StarClan, I hail Rosepaw by his new name. From this moment on, he will be known as Rosefire. StarClan honors your skills with your claws and your loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan."
The Clan sent up a great chear. "Patchfrost! Rosefire! Patchfrost! Rosefire!"
Rosefire glanced over to Alderstripe, who swiftly looked down.
Rosefire knew what he had to do. I need to ask him.
