EVANGELINE SAT DOWN, WAITING FOR HER DONUTS. she had ordered two small glazed donuts, one chocolate twist, and strawberry milk. "i'll be right back agnes, i have to go pee." evangeline said, getting up from her seat and walking towards the restroom.
she opened the door, walking towards one of the stalls; holding her breath. she opens and then locks the stall. she takes a deep breath in, and looks around. then, she spots it. she silently screams and quickly exits the stall, leaving the bathroom.
"back so soon?" agnes asked. "there was a roach." she explained, trying not to gag. "oh, that's no good, i'll be right back." agnes said, getting up, evangeline assumed to kill the roach.
evangeline hears the door open, and she turns around. she sees a boy, around her age and a man.
the man and boy sit next to her, and she checks her watch. agnes quickly enters the room. "so what'll it be?" she asks and the man responds with, "let me get a chocolate eclair." "mhm, sure. can i get the kid a glass of milk or something?" agnes says, causing the kid to scoff.
"the kid wants coffee, black." the boy says, causing agnes to say "cute kid." in a sarcastic manner. the whole time evangeline listens and rolls her eyes. "you forgot to say please." evangeline says to the boy. "excuse me..?" the boy responds. "you asked for a coffee, and you didn't say please." evangeline says. the boy just rolls his eyes.
"i don't remember this place being such a shithole." the boy sighs. "language." evangeline says causing the boy to roll his eyes at her. "language." the boy says in a high pitched tone, mocking her. "i do not sound like that!" she says frowning, the boy just laughs. "you totally do!" evangeline just rolls her eyes at that.
the boy turns to his side, facing the man and says, "you must know your way around the city." the man laughs and says, "i hope so, i've been driving it for 20 years." "good." the boy says, pausing, he then continues "i need an address."
evangeline stops listening to the conversation, and starts on her homework.
evangeline checks her watch again, and realizes how much time that has past. "oh crap! my mom's gonna kill me!" evangeline rushes to get her homework into her backpack.
"bye agnes! bye random little boy!" "see ya loser!" the boy says waving. "that was rude!" evangeline says exiting the donut shop.
by the time the boy is ready to leave the donut shop, the man had already left. suddenly the sound of a machine beeping fills the room. "hm, that was fast, i thought i'd have more time before they found me." the boy says in a calm tone.
"so let's all be professional about this, yeah? on your feet and come with us. they want to talk." a man says, pointing the gun towards the boy.
"i've got nothing to say." the boy says still calm, causing the man with the gun to sigh. "it doesn't have to go this way, you think i want to shoot a kid? go home with that on my conscience?"
"well, i wouldn't worry about that..you won't be going home."
