Her feet carried her through the knee high grass that covered the never ending hills that spread out around her. As far as she could see there was nothing but green hills covered in pretty flowers and small rivers. In the far distance however she could hear the rustling of the sea and though she could not see the waves, the sound calmed her.

The white dress she was wearing dragged behind her as she made her way down the hill. A soft breeze played with her hair while the sun shone down on her face. It warmed her cheeks in a comforting way that the scorching heat of the Scorch never could.

It was quiet and peaceful with only the sound of birds and crickets and the sea in the far distance to keep her company. Finally it was quiet around her, all the noise gone and nothing but a peaceful quietness left to guide her.

She had no idea where exactly she was but she wasn't scared. Instead she felt calm, confident and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't even remember what it felt like to be scared. Almost as if she wasn't allowed to be scared anymore. As if that feeling was far behind her and never had to be felt again.

She was almost at the end of the hill when a figure walked into her sight. He was heading straight towards her, wearing white, clean clothes, just like her. She couldn't see his face because of the brightness of the sun but she didn't have to. He didn't limp anymore and yet she recognised him. She would recognise him anywhere, in any life.

Picking up her dress, she started running. Being pushed forwards by the wind she rushed down the hill. The grass moved aside for her, creating a path. As if it acknowledged her desire to reach the end of the hill.

The moment seemed to stretch out forever but was over within seconds. Like the definition of time was a foreign concept here. She wasn't even out of breath when she finally reached him and rushed into his arms.

A laugh left his lips as he stumbled backwards before embracing her. His laugh was light, free. It didn't sound like it had before, instead it sounded like it always should have. And it was exactly right to her.

She burried her face into his shoulder, knowing that if they would have been anywhere else she might have cried. But somehow she didn't seem able to do that here. Instead she laughed as well, the feeling of pure happiness so strange and yet so familiar to her. As if she was finally complete, finally whole.

Slowly pulling herself away from his strong embrace she lifted her hand to touch his face. Her fingers traced his jawline, her eyes taking in every feature. He seemed happy and years younger than she could remember. He was okay and when she tried to remember how horrible he looked when they'd last seen each other, she couldn't. All there was now were the good memories, the good times no matter how few there had been, they were here.

She could remember how they used to play hide and seek as kids, how he took her out dancing and they discovered their very own song. Memories of the bonfire in the Glade flashed through her mind, how he had laughed when she had drank from that horrible stuff. She remembered when he had said her name that night under the stars, how he was the one to give her back her identity. The way she had kissed him for the first time. All the happy memories they had managed to make through the pain the world had thrown at them.

Letting out another laugh she put her lips on his and finally she felt complete again. It was as if everything had stopped but started moving faster at the same time. Her hands curled up against his chest as he held her face. The kiss was slow, so slow it almost seemed like they were careful not to break each other. As if they had to get used to the feeling of being back together, as if they expected to be broken up again and wanted to take their time. Take their time in getting to know each other again, taking their time in feeling calm and peaceful in each other's presence, a feeling so foreign to them both.

They pulled away and rested their foreheads together and she felt herself smiling like she had never smiled before. She reached up to touch his cheek and exhaled slowly before whispering his name and her voice echoed over the hills and set his body on fire. They were together, never to be seperated again.

Listen guys when I said it was going to hurt, I meant positive pain okay. The kind of pain where you're just like, they are too pure for this world! You all immediately thought Lisa or the twins were gonna die or something. It was fun though, seeing you all so desperate. :)

Sorry for being mean but it was very funny.

I think this epilogue is the perfect ending for the Chronicles of Memoriam, because it has to end one way or the other. And if I had to choose an ending I'd want everyone to be happy, no matter if they're in "heaven" or on earth. So yeah, I guess this is it. The end.

xXx
