The week went on as usual, and I went to sleep the night before my birthday wondering if they would remember.

The next morning I woke up, excited to finally be 12 years old. I got ready and walked out into the living room, where everyone was acting like they had no idea it was my birthday. I sighed, ate my breakfast, and got in the car with Yoongi. "Suga oppa?" I said, deciding to bring up the subject then. "Hm?" He replied. "Did they forget about our birthday?" I asked. He thought about it. "Maybe."

I hugged him and got out of the car. I sneaked up behind Jae-eun and Sooyoung. "Boo!" I yelled. Jae-eun squealed like a pig and Sooyoung just flinched. "What the f*ck!!!" Jae-eun said. I laughed. We walked into the classroom and sat down at our seats.

I got into the car with Yoongi once again, waving goodbye to my friends. Jae-eun and Sooyoung had already gone home. On the way home he turned on the radio. A few songs came on that I didn't recognize, but he seemed to. We stopped at the store for a few things and then drove the rest of the way home.

We opened the door and walked in. The house seemed quiet, and then..."SURPRISE!!!" About fifteen people popped out of hiding. I nearly fell over out of surprise as I recognized Sooyoung and Jae-eun. Jae-eun ran over and hugged me. "Happy birthday!" She said. I smiled. Jungkook and Jimin walked over. "Happy birthday, hyung. Happy birthday, Jen-Hope." Jungkook said. I hugged him. "I thought you forgot..." I said. He laughed and replied, "Nope. Not even close. We would never forget a birthday. Especially a double birthday." My smile grew larger and larger.

"How did you get Sooyoung and Jae-eun to get here?" I asked. This time Jimin spoke up. "I know their... 'mom'." He said. I tilted my head. "I know their foster mom." He said. I looked at Jae-eun as Sooyoung walked over to join us. She explained everything. "Well, we were getting on our flight to Seoul from California, and we were about to get on the plane, but at the last second, we were looking around, and our parents were gone. Just...not there. The other people just pushed us on, and we haven't seen them for... What, a year?" She asked Jae-eun, who nodded. "We still get to call them sometimes, at least. But now we have a foster mom. Just until we see are real parents again," Jae-eun said. "We aren't real sisters, by the way. We just came to Seoul together." She added.

Then Jimin came back into the conversation. "Anyway, I've known their foster mom for my whole life. She's kinda...my mom's best friend..." My eyes went wide. "So..." I said. "That makes them, kinda, like, you're sorta cousins?" He considered this for a moment. "Kinda. I guess." He said. Sooyoung smiled. "I guess then it makes sense that you sound like him when you sing." She muttered, nudging Jae-eun.

I turned and looked at everyone else. They were all people I didn't know, apart from my 'brothers'. "Who's down for video games?" I asked. Jae-eun jumped up and down happily, though Sooyoung kept herself completely calm. I walked over and grabbed three remotes for the Xbox.

I sat at the table between Yoongi and Jae-eun, Sooyoung on the other side of Yoongi. Jin approached carrying a fairly large cake, and placed it down on the table in front of Yoongi and I. He lit the candles around the edge. He counted to three in Korean and everyone around us started singing 'Happy Birthday'. When they finished, Yoongi and I blew out the candles together.

Jhope seemed hyped to eat some cake, and Jae-eun seemed just as excited. I noticed Namjoon had started playing music on the speakers again. It was switching between K-pop and American pop, and I recognized Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, and when Charlie Puth's 'We Don't Talk Anymore' came on Jungkook started singing. Yoongi just stared at Jungkook while he sang like Kookie was stupid. I watched as he stood up and walked over to Kookie and whispered something in his ear. Jungkook immediately stopped singing and sat down. Yoongi came back and sat back down next to me.

Namjoon checked the time. "Alright," he said over the loud speakers and everyone in the party. "Everyone in the living room. It's time for presents." No one seemed to hear him but me. "OI!" I yelled. "Namjoon oppa is talking!" All heads turned to him. "Thank you. Now, as I was saying, everyone please head to the living room, where Jen and Yoongi will open presents." He said in his leader voice. I watched people file into the living room one by one. When Yoongi and I finally squeezed through he door, we sat down on the couch next to everyone else.

Jimin carried ten bags into the living room and placed them in front of me. Jin placed about twenty much smaller bags in front of Yoongi. I looked at Jin, and asked him if I could start opening them. He nodded. I picked up the first one, which was from Hoseok. I read the little note on the card.

Jen-Hope,

As I am a ball of sunshine to everyone else, you are a ball of sunshine to me. Before we adopted you, life was actually pretty boring, apart from being famous K-pop idols, of course. You seem to make my days brighter and my weeks not as hard. Practice is much easier with you around. The dorm isn't as boring. You are now my sister, and so much more. Happy birthday.

I giggled. I opened the bag and smiled. I pulled out a small glass locket. It had what looked like dust on the inside. He walked over and crouched down in front of me. "It's your mom." He said. "I got her ashes put in the locket for you while we were in America. I was going to just give it to you, but when I found out your birthday was coming up..." His voice trailed off. I smiled and hugged him. "Thank you, Hoseok." I said. He smiled and went to sit back down on the couch.

Almost there... "Darn it!" I yelled as Jungkook won the game. Jae-eun sighed. "Okay, seriously, is there any point in playing against him? He's unbeatable." She said. He laughed. "That's right," he said. "I'm the unbeatable Kookie!!!" Jin poked his side. "Jungkook, please develop some manners. That's the only thing we didn't teach you. Stop being so cocky against a few twelve-year-olds." He said. Jae-eun scoffed. "Um, FYI, I am eleven. Jen and Sooyoung are twelve. I am not." She said. Jin apologized. "Okay, sorry." He said. She accepted the apology and then laughed at her own ridiculousness.

As the night got later and later, all of us got more tired. We eventually fell asleep on the couch.

I was glad Mrs. Choi let the girls stay the night at our house.
