•••••KAYS POV•••••

After Jack left, I realized that this was the first time I've ever been in the kitchen alone, so with my lips still tingling from my kiss, I decided to revoke my earlier comment on "not raiding someone else's fridge". I wasn't raiding, technically. I was just exploring out of curiosity, maybe taste testing a few things.

In the fridge there was normal hints food you'd find in a normal household. This fridge was taller than most common fridges; it also didn't have an attached freezer. It had two doors, both opening out the sides, and on the right side door, there was actually two doors in one, so it took me five minutes to open it properly. The first door kept opening first, showing me all the drinks on display inside the door. But I wanted the fridge to open, to see the display of food.

It's all freaking healthy stuff god damn it. Everything normal, orange juice and all. The only unusual things are a container of delicate looking cheeses, a platter of cheese and crackers already made up, and a container of some type of liquid called "aloe juice". I have no idea what the latter is, but it looks like lemonade.

I decide to leave it, not sure if it's poison or medicine or some shit.

After giving in and getting a glass of orange juice, I sit back at the island, balancing on a stool. The man that led the boys away totally gave me the wrong vibe. He looked scary and manipulative, and I hope Jack listened to my advice. Rich or not, I don't need my friends getting kidnapped or sent to jail for no reason.

I sip my orange stuff without any mind, just thinking over everything that's happened. I feel, for some reason, like I've stepped into a fishing net that gets pulled tighter with every move I make. I feel tangled in the waves of the world, air choking me when I try to speak, water drowning me when I try to cleanse myself, speech waves modifying themselves so I can't understand. As if on queue, Carl walks in talking, and I don't understand a word he says.

"What?" I ask, and then I scold myself for not being polite. My parents never taught me to be polite, so I've tried teaching myself. It's hard correcting yourself when your the one saying it, because sometimes you don't catch what you say.

"Sorry, I was a little quiet," he says, heading over to the fridge, "Where are the boys?" He asks. I shrug my shoulders, not actually knowing where they went. He frowns and pulls the Aloe Juice out of the fridge, drinking straight from the jug.

"What is that stuff?" I ask, a little weirded out.

"It's aloe juice. Good for you," he smirks, gulping down more of it. His voice is gruff when he continues.

"The boys are supposed to drink it for their airway or something? Like tea? I don't know, but they don't like it. I love it, so I haven't told anyone that I'm the only one drinking it. It's from Korea or something," he says, shrugging. I laugh at him, at his carelessness.

"Hey! At least I'm healthy. Those boys seriously will only eat pizza, and pizza alone," he chuckles, and then he leaves the room, taking the jug of juice with him. I stare after him, wondering how they came across something from Korea and how they get it here in America.

I sit there thinking, not really knowing what else to do. What was that man here for, anyway? I had a bad feeling about him, and no matter what I tried to think about, it always ended up back at the man. Dr. Casper or whatever. No not Casper, claspers a cool name and I would've remembered it. Dr. Arthur? I don't know. Just when I think I might have to track down and save the boys from eternal doom in hell brought by the devil himself, Jack walks back into the kitchen, a totally fake smile on his face. I know it's fake because it looks like he practiced it, or wore the smile too long trying to brace himself for me, knowing I'd ask what happened. Also, there's no sparkle this eyes, they actually look worried, and the overall look makes jack look confused.
