Chapter 1 - The Cave

~~~~~ Reader POV ~~~~~

I saw an island in the distance as I flew through the air. I landed on the Island as my wings got tired from flying non-stop for 3 days. I walked over to a mountain that had a cave of a comfortable size. I put away my wings and walked into the cave in my human form. I heated the ground with my flames and lied down to rest.

~~~~~ Time Skip - Hiccup POV ~~~~~

We were finally able to decide on an island to set up camp, though Fishlegs was tense and excited since he said he thought he saw a weird dragon fly on the island on the other side. I think we should check out that side sometime, but not right now, since we have other things to worry about for now. Astrid walked up to me.

Astrid: "Good job, combining all of our ideas. But do you really think Fishlegs saw something? I mean normally I would just think he was just seeing things but I don't know. It might be my mind playing tricks on me but now that I think about it, I might have seen SOME movement where he was referring to, but it could have just been the trees moving in the wind."

Hiccup: "I know I know. I am planning on at least checking out that side of the island with him to make sure. But if he did see something, than we really have something to add to the book of dragons, and that would mean we are already making some good progress on our search for new dragons."

 ~~~~~ Reader POV ~~~~~

I walked out of the cave and went to a nearby lake and jump into the cold water, catching some nice fish for breakfast. I climbed out of the lake with a fish in my mouth. I set up a campfire and started to roast the fish.

After a moment I heard some rustling and took my fairly undercooked fish and jumped up, hiding in a nearby tree as I quickly scarfed down the fish. I saw some people walk into my site clearing, with some dragons walking behind them. The dragons were all the common types, except one I have never seen before. After my quick glance at it my eyes shimmer (F/C). I smiled as I stood still and listened.

Brown Haired boy: "Huh, a campfire. Fishlegs maybe what you saw wasn't just a dragon, but a dragon rider as well."

THICC BOI (this is the only time I am reffering to him as this, but for the jokes, I am gonna do it.): "Oh my Thor! What if the dragon rider is nearby? I mean the fire is still lit. I wonder what type of dragon he, OR SHE, has."

Blonde Axe Wielder: "Well where ever this elusive rider is, we at least know of their presence, we should stay on the lookout, in case we ever...."

Before she could finish her sentence I accidentally let out a belch from my tasty meal. Before the strange group could see me, the branch I was on snapped as I leaped away. Dashing through the trees like a blur. I made it back to my cave, unseen.... kind of. I entered my cave and sat down, still hungry since I only managed to consume one fish, not even a snack.

~~~~~ Hiccup POV ~~~~~

Hiccup: "Guys did you see that?"

Astrid: "Unfortunately not. It was too fast to be made out, but something, and probably someone, was watching us as we talked."

Hiccup nodded as he looked at everyone else.

Snotlout: "So what do we do now? Go hunting for the mysterious figure in the woods? When we have no idea what is out there?"

Hiccup: "I mean, we are going to have to find out what is out there eventually. And not to mention, we do have the numbers in our favor."

Fishlegs: "Hiccup's right, Snotlout. We should go in the woods while it is still bright out and while we can see, this way we can at least know what we are dealing with, and will allow us to plan our actions more accordingly."
