Renjun crept down the stairs, one step at a time.

He took his time, lightly stepping on each step in a different way so it wouldn't creek loudly and disturb his family. It was the only time that everyone was asleep and he couldn't wake them up.

He made his way down the steps and he put his hand on the doorknob until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He yelped loudly and looked to see his younger brother. He took a deep breath, considering that he held his breath for a little, and slapped his brothers arm.

"Huang Chenle, you can't scare me like that!" He caught his breath and glared at the younger.

"Where are you going? It's 2am."

"Why are you awake? It's 2am."

"I asked first." Renjun was scared. How would his little, big brother react if he were to say that he met up with a stranger every night?

"Uh, stuff." Chenle sighed and rolled his eyes. Renjun only said that because he genuinely couldn't think of an excuse.

"But what stuff?"

"You asked a question, I answered it, I will leave now." Renjun walked out, leaving Chenle. He felt bad, leaving his little brother to deal with the horror and instability of the house.

But sometimes, he had to get a breath of fresh air. By himself. No family, no close friends, no acquaintances. Just him, going alone. It was dangerous to go out that late but he didn't care, he wasn't allowed to go anywhere else for the day.

As he walked, he thought about the previous situation. He couldn't imagine how Chenle felt. Waking up to a bed without his brother and hearing his parents fight.

"Should I bring him with me?" He didn't realize that 1. He was at the park, 2. He said that it loud, and 3. Jaemin was already there.

"Bring who?" The voice made him slightly jump. He looked up to see the same bright, energetic face.

"Na Jaemin, you scared the shit out of me." Jaemin chuckled softly while Renjun walked towards the swings and sat down.

His legs slightly dangled and his hands tightly grabbed onto the chains. He had a bright smile on his face, waiting for Jaemin to push him. Jaemin thought that he was cute but what's new?

"Who were you talking about earlier?" Jaemin put the palms of his hands flat on Renjuns back and pushed him, giving him a large boost before he could start swinging on his own.

"Oh, my brother." Jaemin tilted his head to the side.

"Why?"

"Well, our situation at home is not good so I leave every night to escape but he doesn't. I might bring him one day so he doesn't have to be stuck in that house either." Jaemin nodded at his words while Renjun gripped the chains tighter.

He kept getting higher and higher up. He wished eventually that he could fly away. Fly away from all of the terrible, horrible things in his life and take Chenle to get a better, funner, happier life. But that idea was a dream, not reality.

He couldn't escape it all even if he separated from his parents.

The swing stopped and he felt a pair of arms wrap around him. That's when he looks at Jaemin but his face was blurred. He was crying.

He laid his head in Jaemins chest, trying to breathe properly.

Jaemin ran his hands through Renjuns hair, ignoring that he was crying into his shirt. He could care less for the shirt at that moment. He looked at the elder, he was all teary eyed and he looked broken.

He never wanted to see Renjun cry ever again.
