Remington's POV
I wake up before Amara does. She has the day off from her job so she is sleeping in. I gently and quietly get out of bed and get dressed. Silently placing a kiss on her forehead, I leave her house and drive back to my mother's house. Even though I see no other cars besides my brothers' and my mother's, I know that everyone who is supposed to be there is there.
Walking into the house I see my mother and Emerson waiting for me. "Where's Sebastian!" I ask the two of them. "He already went down there to keep an eye on everyone." Emerson replies. Nodding, the three of us walk towards the fireplace. My mother presses a button that is undetectable to the human eye and the fireplace floor gives way to a set of stone steps. We all walk down the steps that lead to a heavy, wooden door with the Palaye logo carved into it. I open the door and step into a big, cavernous room. It has shining, marble floors, pillars lining two sides of the room, a massive crystal chandelier was in the middle of the ceiling with smaller ones dotted through out. And at the other end of the room, atop a dais, sat three thrones. The one to the right was blue with silver painted wood, the one in the middle was red with gold painted wood, and the last one was a deep green with mahogany wood.
The three of us make our way to another door that was just past the thrones. We go through the door and are now in a meeting room. There is a long wood table with chairs all around it and three together at one end. Thee were quite a few people already in the room, including Sebastian. He walks over to one of the three chairs and sits down. We follow him and sit down as well. Next to Sebastian was a young man with blue eyes, black hair and pale skin. His name was Kaden. He had a very important job. He is known as the 'Royal Scribe', he takes notes during all of the meetings. He told us that he writes a lot and enjoys it so we were more than happy to give him the position.
There was also Amara's best friend Emily. She was sitting a couple seats down on my left. Next to her was a guy with short dark brown hair, and dry grey eyes. My mother told me that his name is Ashtyn. She also told me that he is a very nice person. And my mother is very perceptive. "Ok, let's call this meeting to order." Sebastian calls out and grabs everybody's attention. Kaden takes out a pen and begins to take notes. "Em would you care to give the latest report?" Emerson said to someone standing by his side. Em is a short young girl with brown hair and eyes and is a bit pale. She is known as Emerson's Right-Hand Person. She helps him with everything from his art dealings to things happening in the Council. To even talk to or get to Emerson you first had to report to her. And if she doesn't likes you, than you won't be seeing Emerson.
"Of course, sir. There seems to be another band of rogues gathering strength and numbers in the East. Reports have stated that there have been about five killings within the last week and a half." Em stated. We all continue to talk about the rouge groups but there is not a lot of information to be talked about. We finally decided to end the meeting. Sebastian turned to Kaden and gently shook his shoulder to get his attention. "So Kaden, based on the notes you've taken, what do you think we should do?" Sebastian asks him.
"Well given how little information we have on them, I suggest we try to figure out a motive behind the attacks. If we knew their identities, I'd say we should try to get in contact with them, but we don't. For now all we can really do is wait, unfortunately." Kaden explained.
"Thank you Kaden. Ok well that marks the end of the meeting. Everyone is dismissed. Thank you." Sebastian announced. After mostly everyone left, the only ones left were my brothers and I, our mother, and Emily.
"What's wrong, Remington? You look upset." My mother asked me gently. "It's these rouge groups. What if they come here? What if they come after Amara? I can't lose her. Not again." I muttered.
"Well you know what I think you should do, you're too stubborn to do it!" Emily quipped. "I can't tell her what we are! Not yet at least. It'll scare her off. And I don't want." I replay back to her.
"She'll can handle it. I know she can. So either you tell her or I will. And you know I will." Emily challenged before she briskly walked out of the room.
"You know, she might be right Remington. Amara might be able to handle finding out about our secret." Emerson stated.
"I know, Emerson. I know. I'm just afraid of not loving me anymore if she finds out."
"She will always love you. You two are meant to be together." My mother said. With that thought on my mind and hope in my heart that they were right, we left the meeting room and I tried to think of a way to tell Amara that I am a centuries-old vampire.
Aww poor Remington!!! He's feeling so conflicted about telling Amara his deep, dark secret. He's so afraid that she might not love him anymore because of it! And damn was Emily savage towards him. I won't lie, but my irl who Emily is based off of, can be like that 😂. But she means well. So how well will Amara deal with learning Rem's secret? And what is up with these rouge groups? Continue reading to find out! And don't forget to comment and vote! ☺️💜
