                                                                                          Amara's POV
It was no surprise to anyone that the attack ruined the party mood. Most of the party guests left and presumably went home. A group of us though went into the meeting room to go over what happened. The Palaye boys sit at the head of the long table. I am introduced to two new people, well vampires, who work closely with the boys. There was Kaden who told me that he was the Royal Scribe.

"What does that mean? Like what is it that you do as the Royal Scribe?" I ask him. "I take notes during the meetings and then I help come up with plans to fix any problems." He answers.

The other was a short girl named Em. She stood just behind Emerson and was silent. Karina leaned towards me and told me that she was his Right-Hand Person. Wow, she must do a lot of important things. Sebastian clears his throat to get our attention. "What happened tonight was alarming and scary to say the least. There is no doubt that they were the rogues."

"Um, what or who are the rogues?" I ask no one in particular.

"I don't think that it's best for you to be here Amara. You shouldn't have to hear any of this." Rem tells me.

"No, I want to hear this and I want to help. I'm staying."

"Ok then. The rogues are this group of vampires who have been attacking and killing humans. By each body they leave a skull with a crescent moon carved into it. Also by one of them was a card with the words 'noctu-morte' on it." Remington replies.

Noctu-morte. It's Latin for death at night. Could that be what they call themselves? Seeing the thoughtful look on my face, Emerson asks, "what's on your mind Amara?"

"Well noctu-morte translates to 'death at night' and I was thinking that it's possible that it could be what this group calls themselves." They all look at one another. Could I be right?

"You could and most likely are correct. It does make sense. Well, there's nothing else to talk about so everyone should head home. Stay safe." Sebastian tells all of us. Everyone gets up and most leave except for a few of us. The boys, myself, Emily, Karina, and Kaden stay behind. Kaden walks up to Emily, Karina, and I.

"How are you guys doing?" He asks us.

"We are doing a alright now. Still a little shaky. How are you doing?" Karina says.

"I'm doing good. A bit nervous about the rogues if I'm being honest." Kaden replies.

"So Kaden, how long have you been at The Underground?" I ask him.

"I've been with them for a long time. Back in the '20s I was making a living as an artist and writer when I got sick. I had met Emerson at an art museum and had befriended him. After I got sick, he visited me and when he told me he was a vampire, he offered to turn me. I agreed and I've been here ever since." Kaden tells us.

"Wow. That is amazing. I'm glad you decided to stay here." I say. He smiles before excusing himself and then walking away. Feeling tired, I sit back down in a chair.

"Are you doing okay Amara?" Emily asks me.

"Yeah, I'm just tired. Exhausted actually. I kind of want to just go home and go to bed. Who knew almost getting kidnapped could tire you out this much?"

"Okay, I'll go tell Rem and then he can take you home, alright?" Emily says. I nod and she goes over t the three boys. Emily returns a few moments later with Rem in tow.

"Hey, you ready to go? Emily told me you were tired." He asked me.

"Yeah I'd really like to go home now." Remington offers his hand to me and I get up from the chair. We leave The Underground and start the drive to my house. During the ride, I try my hardest to stay awake. Soon enough, we arrive at my house. I get out of the car and sleepily walk up to the front door, my shoes in my hand and Remington right behind me. Once I get inside my house and in my room, Rem helps me out of my dress and into my pajamas. I flop onto my bed and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

*Dream*
I am in the kitchen helping my mother prepare supper when there is a knock on the door. My father arises from his chair by the fire and opens the door. He talks to whoever is on the other side before stepping to the side, inviting them in.

Once the person is inside, he grabs my father by the throat and slams him into the wall. He then clamps down in his neck with his mouth. Blood sprays everywhere and my mother and I are both frozen in fear. The nameless man then throws my father to the ground before attacking my mother. I grab a knife and hold it out in front of me. He then stalks towards me, a feral grin on his blood-stained face and his blood red eyes are twinkling. He is so close to me that he is able to knock the knife from my hand, sending it clattering across the floor.

The man grabs me and begins to drain me of my blood. I struggle as much as possible but I feel myself growing weaker and weaker. The very last thing I see is my beloved Remington bursting through the door.
*End Dream*

I sit up in bed, screaming.
