Amara's POV
After the boys leave, I walk into the kitchen to make myself some dinner. I settle on a simple sandwich and head back into the living room. I relax and flip through the channels, hoping to find something good. Finally settling on some mindless reality tv, I start to eat my dinner. Not long after finishing eating, I feel a little sleepy so i get up and take a shower before heading to bed, hoping for a peaceful night's sleep. Unfortunately I did not get it.
When I got up the next morning, I was beyond tired. I got ready and left shortly after. Once I got to the book store, I walked right to the cafe and made myself a large coffee. For most of the morning, the store was quiet, with only a few regulars coming in. One of my favorite regulars, Tori came in. She's one of my favorites because she could spend hours here. She usually comes in with on of her best friends, either Jessica or Jackie. The funny thing about her is that her friends have to give her a limit on either how much she can spend or how many books she could buy. Today she was good and only bought four books.
After she left, the day was pretty quiet. I decided to keep myself busy by organizing some of the books. Halfway through doing the non-fiction young adult section, the bell over the door rang, signaling that someone had entered the store. I look up and see that it was Drake that walked in.
"Hey Drake. How are you doing today?" I say with a small smile and putting down the short pile of books in my hands. "I'm doing good today, Amara. How are you doing today?" Drake replies.
"Oh I'm doing good, if not a little tired. Thank you for asking. So what brings you in today?"
"I, uh just felt like stopping in, I was walking through town before. I was also wondering if you were doing anything tonight?" he says.
"All I had planned was catching up on some Netflix."
"Well, would you mind changing those plans and instead join me for dinner tonight? I would love to catch up with you."
"That sounds fun. I'll take you up on that offer. I get off here at 4 so how does 6 p.m sound? That'll give me enough time to get home and get ready." I smile.
"Sounds perfect. I'll see you at 6." With that Drake walks out. I finish working up the section I was working on and move on to the next section. I finally finish organizing the store, and see that it is time foe me to go home. I leave the store and head home to get ready for dinner with Drake. Once home, I change out of my work clothes and take a quick shower. After, I slip on a simple purple dress with some black suede booties and a black military jacket. I kept my hair down and my makeup simple. After I put the finishing touches on my makeup, I go and wait in my living room for Drake. About 15 minutes later, I hear a knock on my front door. I open it up but instead of Drake, I am met with Emily, holding a bottle of wine.
"Hey girl! Haven't seen you in awhile so I thought we could have a girl's night." she says excitedly. "Hey Em, while that sounds amazing unfortunately I can't tonight. I'm having dinner with Drake tonight. But you are more than welcome to stay her and hang out. I mean you drove all the way over here." As I say this, I see Drake pull into my driveway.
"Drake? What are you doing with him?"
"He wanted to catch up and grab some food."
"Okay, still don't like him. But have a good time. I'll hold down the fort here." Emily says before she walks in. I give her a quick hug before leaving and getting in Drake's car.
"Hey. Who was that?" Drake asks after I get in.
"Hi. Oh that was just one of my friends. She wanted to have a girl's night but I told her I couldn't." We continued to make small talk until we arrived at the restaurant. Drake parks the car and then gets out and proceeds to open the car door for me.
"Thank you Drake. I guess chivalry isn't dead after all." I smile at him as we walk into the restaurant, a small bistro known for its relaxed and laid back atmosphere. The hostess quickly seats us and hands us each our menus. "So what have you been up to these days Amara?" Drake asks me.
"Oh not much. After school, I decided to get a job so I applied to the bookstore for the manager position. I've worked there for a few years now. I also had the amazing opportunity to see my favorite band live and I'm now dating the lead singer of said band." I continue telling him about everything I've been through, but omitting a few details like the boys being vampire royalty. I then ask him what he's been doing.
"I haven't been doing anything that exciting. I have been traveling though. Went backpacking across Europe, which was nice. But that's about it." The two of us continue to catch up on old times while we eat. Before we know it, we both have finished our meals and Drake pays the bill before I can protest.
"So Amara, I was wondering if you wanted to take a quick walk through the park?"
"Sure that sounds nice Drake." I say. WE leave the restaurant and drive to the park.
"Oh! I think this is the park Remington took me to on our first date! It was so romantic." I can't help the wide grin that spreads across my face.
"I am so tired of hearing about Remington! I'm over it and him!" I hear Drake mumble.
"What? What are you talking about Drake? Is everything okay?" He looks at me with a mean glint in his eyes.
"No, everything is not okay. But soon it will be." Before I had a chance to react, everything went black.
