★ Chapter 8 ★
Lance , the man from the hallway , was actually an okay guy. He wasn't has mean as I once thought he was. He just liked to make fun, mostly at mine or Claude's expense. I didn't mind it all that much, he was the only 'friend' I had here. Claude was yet to introduce me to the other vampires here at least ," not now."
Out of all the vampires I had met, which was only five, I liked Lance and Louis, Claude's dad, the most. I could actually see myself getting along with them. Lance was funny and friendly, once he got over himself. While Louis was mature and easy going. Cherri was okay too, but she had too much energy for me. I don't know how Louis put up with her for however many years they've been together.
How old were they? Claude and Lance looked to be in their twenties at least. But, Cherri and Louis also looked around that age. They don't even look old enough to be having a child. They must have been really old to have Claude. I don't think I wanted to know any of their ages,it's too much.
They could be in their seventies for all I knew, maybe even older.
I shuddered.
"What 'Little Rabbit', are you shaking in your boots? Scared of vampires?",Lance teased.
"No, she should be over that, it's been a week.",Claude eyed me.
"No- I was just thinking that...", I cringed.
"Spit it out.", Claude spat.
"I'm hanging out with old men."
Lance fell out of his chair," Hear that Claude!? We're old men!"
Claude rolled his eyes,"Than you must be a baby."
"Aw! Our little Vicky!",Lance cooed.
"What's so funny that you guys aren't doing your work?", Louis questioned has he came up to our table in the library.
"They're being idiots, like usual.", Claude accused.
"Hey!", Lance and I shouted.
Louis smirked," So, what was so funny?"
I looked at Lance pleadingly hoping that he wouldn't make a fool out of us like Claude had.
"She said that we're-"
"Very kind! They've made me really comfortable here-yeah?"
"She said we're old men.", Claude sighed obviously starting to get annoyed.
"Then I must be ancient.", Louis laughed along with Lance.
I shrunk into my chair, this is so embarrassing.
Claude looked over at me and smirked," This is why you should keep your mouth shut."
"Come on old man, lighten up!", Louis patted his back," Go take your young lady for a walk. You've worked for long enough today. "
"I barley got anything done with these two idiots beside me."
"Excuse me, but I got all my work done.", Lance crossed his arms feigning anger.
"And you? How much have you gotten done?",he looked at me expectantly.
I looked down at the paper on the desk. For the last hour I was supposed to be writing down notes on what I 'needed to know'. But, instead I had drawn Claude with a scowl on his face and Lance laughing. I tried to learn ,I really did, I just couldn't be bothered. It was like having a history class with a boring teacher.
"Uh....I got some very insightful details gathered while Lance and I worked diligently on our work.", I smiled weakly.
"Which is 'slacker talk' for I didn't get anything done.",Claude annoyingly added.
Did he really have to say that?
Louis gave me a look,"Let me see."
I handed him my paper and put my head on the table in shame.
For some reason he was laughing and not just laughing, but crying. I didn't think my lack of studious behavior would be so funny. Shouldn't he be yelling right now? I wish my old teachers were like that. I'd probably be their favorite student.
Louis looked at Claude with my paper raised beside his head ," This is actually quite good."
"Let me see!", Lance shouted.
He also looked at Claude amused.
Claude reached out with his hand for the paper,"Really? Some old dude found a new race of vampire and saved a lot of people?"
"At least she got it correct. He technically is an,"old dude", that,"saved a lot of people. "
Louis laughed,"Would you like to meet him?"
"I can meet him! Wait, shouldn't he be- right vampires.", I grumbled.
"See, told you they're both idiots.", he flicked me,"Stupid."
"But, can I really?"
"He's my dad. I'm his only son, it'll happen."
"So, The Rabbit can get him to come, but not his own grandson.", Claude stated bitterly.
"Stop whining, of course he's going to want to meet her.",they shared a meaningful look.
