"Maru" by Summer Cheng
Maru is a sweet,
dog of ours,
she loves us all,
she is big,
she likes to chew,
cow ears,
and her dog toys,
she makes a huge mess,
with her things,
as if she were a child:
she is cute,
though she is a bit wild!
She has webbed feet,
She has a furry coat,
Her fur is soft,
Her fur is red,
Her fur is the type that will shed,
and she tore up her dog bed!
She barks,
She howls,
She tries to say,
Her name,
As if were a game!
She is a Belgian Malinois Shepherd,
She is the cousin dog,
To the German Shepherd,
She growls,
At other dogs,
She does not chase birds,
She dislikes cats,
And she does not mind eating rats.
She is an awesome pet,
She loves to ride in the car,
As long as you do not travel,
Very far,
She hates a bath,
But she likes the towel,
and she looks out the window,
every day,
as if to hey,
to everyone,
who goes by!
She jumps,
She lays down,
She sleeps when she is tired,
She eats when she is hungry,
And she gets along well,
With us all,
As you may recall.
Maru is one cool dog,
She does not like the rain,
She thinks it is a total pain,
She likes the sun,
It is lots of fun,
She loves the snow,
Oh, wouldn't you know?
Maru is happy,
As can be,
As you can see,
Now that she no longer,
Lives at the pound,
She stays in a home,
And is happy to rome,
Around as she pleases,
From time to time,
Yes, I know it is a cheesy rhyme!
