Poland, Russia and Kiwi sat on a few leather sofas in the upstairs lounge, as America finished playing ForTnIte and went to his room to have a nap.
Germany walked in with some coffee, handing it to everyone.
"So, you said something about the whole 'not existing' thing?" Russia started.
"Uhm, yeeah. She didn't exist in any history books, hadn't been in a phone book, and nobody knew who she was." Stated Poland. With her saying that, Kiwi looked down, staring into her drink.
"Huh." Russia lazily replied. It was hard to believe everything that happened that day, why should this be different? But..
When Kiwi smiled at him, he felt something. Like an arrow shot through his chest.
The others kept talking, Russia distracted by his thoughts.
"Russia." Poland said, sounding vaguely pissed off.
"Yeah?" He replied. She had a serious look on her face, which wasn't good.
"What's... What's the real reason you didn't answer our texts?" She asked, quieter this time. This caught Kiwi's attention.
"I can't actually answer that. You're gonna have to ask America. I don't know what happened." He responded, his heart in his stomach.
"Stop coming up with excuses!" Exclaimed Germany.
"I don't know though! Ask goddamn America!" Said Russia, trying to sound intimidating, but failing miserably.
"That's all you do, isn't it? Come up with excuses?" Germany said, shouting this time.
"Germany, just let him-" Before Poland could finish, Russia slammed his fist against the wood table to the side of him to shut everyone up. He got up, and just left.
Russia went to his room, slamming the door behind him.
"What the... I've never seen him like that..." Said Germany.
Kiwi coughed, asking for attention.
"What is it now?" Asked Germany bitterly. He wished he could just go to his room and work.
"How about you take his advice and talk to America?" She asked silently. Poland and Germany looked at each other, considering if they should do it or not.
They both got up, Germany already heading to America's room.
"Thanks for breaking the tension." Said Poland with a wink.
She soon followed Germany down, leaving Kiwi in the lounge.
This gave her a chance.
She got up, shuffling to Russia's room.
She lightly knocked, hearing an inaudible sound.
"Russia?" She asked quietly.
Russia knew that voice. That was Kiwi's voice. For some reason, he wanted to let her in.
And that's what he did.
Russia opened the door, letting Kiwi step in and sit on his bed. He followed soon after, closing the door, but not locking it.
"They said you've never acted like that before." She said with a croaky voice.
Russia nodded, thinking of what he could say in response to her statement.
"The worst thing is.. it felt nice. It felt like.. I actually have some kind of power in this house." He said. He probably could've said something better, but he didn't.
"That's normal." Kiwi said, her eyes looking into his. Russia looked at her back, only to find he couldn't manage to pull away. When he did, everything just went silent.
"So what room will you be taking?" Russia asked, curiosity in his voice.
"I'm sure it's the one just down the hall." Replied Kiwi. Russia nodded, satisfied with the answer.
When Kiwi left the room, he reflected on himself.
Why did she make him feel like he wanted to live? Why did she make him do things that he wouldn't do for other people? Why? What was the problem?
Russia scrunched his face into his hands, not understanding anything anymore.
He waited to wake up. Then he could finally get out of this nightmare.
He heard footsteps; a set of them, at that. He knew who they belonged to.
There was a light knock at the door, Poland and Germany letting themselves in.
"America told us everything." Poland said. Russia didn't lift his head from his hands; he he didn't want to make eye contact.
"How did you feel?" Asked Germany, sitting next to to Russia.
"I was unconscious. How was I supposed to know?" Russia said, slightly turning his head to Germany.
The top of Russia's fleece sleeve dropped down a little bit.
Germany knew what it was.
"Poland, can you please wait with Kiwi in the lounge?" Germany asked politely.
"Uhm... Sure.." she said, getting up and leaving the room.
As soon as she left, Germany grabbed Russia's arm, making him flinch. Russia looked at Germany wide eyed.
Germany rolled down Russia's sleeve carefully, revealing whitish bandages.
They would be white it they weren't blood stained.
Russia quickly looked away, Germany's expression frightened.
"Russia..." He began. "Could you have gone unconscious because of, maybe, blood loss?"
"I'm not going to therapy." Russia simply stated, a weak smile across his face.
"I'm not asking you to." Germany replied. He rolled his sleeve back up, letting go of Russia's arm.
He left the room, leaving Russia alone.
Again.

Over the next few weeks, Russia was expected to go to Germany every day. However, Germany noticed that ever since Kiwi arrived, Russia was more social, went to his room less, and he even had less cuts.
This made Germany smile.
Germany knew how Russia felt, but Russia himself didn't.
"So. You have feelings for Kiwi?" Asked Germany just before Russia left his work space.
Russia blushed, turning his head towards Germany.
"Don't worry. I know what these feelings are like." Germany reassured him.
"How would you kn-"
"Poland." Germany said, looking away.
Russia smiled, turning back towards the door. He left the room, leaving the workaholic be.
Russia never knew Germany could feel emotions like that!
He went and sat on one of the sofas in the lounge. Nothing went through his head.
Russia heard a door open, only to see Kiwi leave her room.
"Morning." She said, stretching.
"Good morning." He replied, watching her come and sit by him.
They sat in silence for a little while, until Russia finally said;
"Did you know Germany has a crush on Poland?" He asked.
"Oh, my god. On the way here, Germany was calling Poland 'my love'. That was... Uhm.. crIngy. But I can't say anything about being cringy, because my life's cringe!" She said. She smiled, processing what she just said about herself.
Suddenly, they both started laughing, finding it hilarious for some apparent reason.
"Wanna go for a walk?" Asked Russia, snapping out of it. Kiwi nodded, getting up.
"That would be nice." She said, smiling again.
God, did Russia find that smile beautiful.
