The past few days have just been a flurry of craziness, Connor and I tried our best to cram pack a ton of stuff into Brooke and Carson’s extremely short visit. Brooke and I also spent some time shopping for school stuff because I’ll be starting my first day at my new school. According to Connor, school at St. Vincent’s Prep has already started but that Caroline put Connor and a few of the boys on independent study so that they could have time to help me get settled. I was surprised to hear about that because I haven’t seen Connor do a single scrap of homework- or even read a book! Actually, that’s a lie. Connor reads a lot, usually before we go to sleep.

“Hey there sleepy head,” Connor whispers in my ear, and I open my eyes lazily. “Were you still sleeping?” He asks me, running his fingers through my hair which is sprawled out across his chest.

I shake my head, trying to stifle a yawn, “No, I was just thinking.”

            “Oh yeah? About what?”

“School, I guess.” I tell him, biting my lower lip slightly.

“Are you nervous?” He asks, sounding slightly surprised.

I nod, sighing a little, as I try to figure out how to explain it to him, “It’s just that at my old school in Arizona I didn’t exactly have a lot of friends- I really only had Anita and to be honest she didn’t treat me all that great. I guess I just don’t want going to St. Vincent’s and have it be the same fucking thing all over again. I don’t want you to be the only person I have.”

“I won’t be! You already have at least seven friends, Moose. None of us are going to let you feel alone.”

“Seven people, that’s a huge fucking improvement. Connor six of those people are your brothers and the eighth is Kylie who’s practically part of the family!”

“But that’s eight people already and none of us have let you meet our friends yet. So really you’re going to end up knowing pretty much the entire school.”

“Why is that?” I ask him and he looks at me, but is avoiding making eye contact.

“Why is what?” He questions me evasively, answering my question with another question.

“Don’t be stupid, Connor. You know exactly what I’m talking about. Why won’t you or any of the other boys introduce me to your friends?”

He sighs, and refused to look at me for the longest time, “To be perfectly honest, none of us wanted you to get the wrong idea about us. At school we’re all the most popular guys there are and we don’t really give anyone the time of day. Not because we’re assholes or anything like that but it’s hard to connect with the people at school because they’re so obsessive about us. So all of the supposed friends we have at school are either cocky jocks or stuck up bitchy cheerleaders. You and Kylie are the only normal girls any of us have really dated, well except for Aaron’s girlfriend Amber.”
