“So, what exactly is it your dad has the rights to in Disneyland?” Connor asks me as he twists my hair into various different designs.
“Some chain of coffee shops called The Jumping Beans- Connor, seriously, what are you doing to my hair?” I finally ask him, feeling slightly alarmed at the possibility of how frightening my hair could look at this moment.
“What? Oh, I’m just French braiding it, it’s no big deal Moose.” He says nonchalantly as he twists my hair into a few more positions. “Well, more like a French braid twist. Do you have a hair tie so that I can tie this off?”
“You’re, what?” I ask him, having a hard time wrapping my mind around what he just said. “Really? You’re French braiding my hair?” I ask him as I pass a hair tie over my shoulder to him and he takes it from my fingers that are loosely clasped around it. I can feel him tugging on my braid slightly, as he wraps the hair tie around the bottom of it and then he wraps his arms around me; letting out a smug, but content, sigh.
“There, all done.” He says, and I lean back so that I’m pressed against his chest; one of his legs on either side of my body, “I love playing with your hair, Moose.”
“Isn’t that something that’s like super embarrassing for guys to say?” I ask him, turning my head slightly so that I can look at him as I arch my eyebrow.
He shrugs, “Maybe, but I don’t really care.” He says, kissing the tip of my nose. “So that’s all? Some coffee shops called The Jumping Beans? He’s making bank off of some coffee?”
“Well, no, not just coffee. Apparently he has exclusive rights to this thing called Club 33 too. I’m not quite sure what that is though,”
“No fucking way,” Connor says, sounding both surprised and extremely excited at the same time. “Your dad has the rights to Club 33?”
“Yeah,” I say slowly, “Why? What’s so great about that?”
He stares at me, his mouth hanging open slightly, before shaking his head, “Moose, Club 33 is the only place in or near Disneyland that’s allowed to serve alcohol and it’s ridiculously exclusive. It doesn’t matter who you are or how much money you have, there’s no guarantee of getting in unless you’re on the list.”
“So, we wouldn’t be able to get in?” I ask him, feeling a little crestfallen, it would have been nice to visit something my father owned; Connor looks at me for a moments, pausing before he bursts out in laughter.
“Babe,” He says with a laugh, “Of course you can get in! You own it now!”
“Oh,” I say quietly, feeling a little embarrassed at my thoughtlessness, “Yeah, I guess I do.”
“Moose, baby, are you okay? You seem upset.”
I open my mouth to say something, but then I quickly close it again and quickly look away from him.
“Cerulean,” He says, and I’m surprised; he’s never said my name before. “What’s wrong?” He asks me, putting his hand under my chin and turning my face- angling it up towards him so that I have to look him in the eye.
