Grief

Eyes widening, I choked back a cry. Lily... How...?

"I walked into the dorm and she had her back to me and when she didnt reply I tapped her head..." Katia wailed even louder, "and... and it fell off!"

Beside me, Ethan slumped to the ground, shaking his head.

"Just this morning... Just this morning I was talking to her..."

I said nothing, placing one arm around Katia and one on Ethan's shoulder. If it had been me before my murder, I would have cried as well, but I had a feeling that Lily was watching us right then. Perhaps she had become a ghost.

As if on cue, a cold chill ran down my spine, making me shudder.

Looking up, I saw a faint blue outline of a girl missing her head above her mouth. Lily.

"Lily..." I whispered. She looked up, startled.

"You ... You can see me?"

I nodded. It wasn't like this was the weirdest thing to happen to me.

"Yes,"

Katia stopped shaking for a moment and glanced up at me.

"Who are you talking to?" She sniffled.

"Lily,"  I replied like it was nothing, and turned my attention back to said person, leaving Katia with wide eyes.

"Ryuuhei... He's coming for you..."

OoOoOoOoOoOo

Me, Ethan and Katia sat in our room, with Katia still wailing and Ethan staring at me with hatred. I ignored him.

"Hey Davidson!" He yelled, "That guy who chased you earlier... Was that the guy who killed Lily? I bet you know. I bet you planned this... You knew it would happen! Murderer! I'm gonna tell Katia your little secret!"

I turned my head away, hiding the pained expression on my face. The grief was getting to him, he didn't mean it. Even so...

"I don't know who the man was, Ethan. I still don't, and while its entirely possible that Lily's murder has something to do with him you can't just jump to conclusions!" I hissed, "And you're accusing me of being a murderer? How!? I've been with you this entire time, idiot! I haven't staged anything, I haven't planned anything so quit it!"

"Stop it!" Katia cried.

"You could at least pretend to care!" He was almost screaming, "you haven't shed one tear over her! You selfish bastard! You pretend to feel all sorry for yourself because you and your brother died, but in truth you just wanted to ruin our lives!"

"What are you talking about!? That made no sense!" Katia pleaded. Neither of us replied.

"You think I don't care?" I whispered, my voice becoming dangerous and almost sinister, making Ethan shrink back, "If I didn't care, you would be dead by now. That man from earlier would have killed you if I hadn't ran. Now shut your trap before I rip your jaw off,"

Ethan stormed out, glaring at me with hatred and slight fear. Katia had stopped crying.

"What did he mean?" She asked quietly. I sighed; I really didn't want to experience another punishment but I looked like I had no choice.

"Katia... I um... To hell with it! Katia, I'm dead. I was killed alongside my family and resurrected by my foster father three years ago. I'm also going to be punished for saying that and its going to be bad"

"W...What?!"

Nausea hit me and I rolled onto the floor, gripping my stomach. Gagging, I dragged myself to the toilet but didn't make it in time, vomiting blood onto the white tiled floor of the bathroom. I heaved again, the red liquid splashing onto my face. It contained hair. Human hair.

"F...Fuck..."

More came up, the long black strands escaping my mouth in a bloody string.

"Ryuu!" Katia, who had been watching in horror, ran over and held my hair up from my face as I vomited again, but this time a different thing came up. Warily looking down, I found an eyeball staring back up at me. I regcognized the dark grey mixed with lighter flecks instantly. It was Taiga's missing eye... The one the murderer had stabbed.

I was then screaming loudly, my brothers name echoeing around the room.

"Oh my god..." Katia whispered as I vomited again, this time is was my lunch coming up and had nothing to do with the punishment, which had ended.

My voice gave up and instead of screaming I began to whimper, tears rolling down my cheeks. Damn Ethan. Damn him for telling her.

"Shh..." She coaxed, rubbing my back as I sat back, leaning my head on her shoulder and staring up at the ceiling.

"This world is so cruel," I whispered hoarsely, "No-one... No-one should have to die like Lily or Taiga did..."

"It's the sour things that make the sweet seem sweeter," she replied sadly, hugging me. I shakily stood up  using the sink and Katia for support and began to clean the floor, biting back the wave of emotions. Damn punishment messing with my head.

OoOoOoOoOoOo

Me and Katia sat on the floor beside one another, her quietly crying again and me staring up at the ceiling.

"Hey..." I whispered as a particularly loud sob came from her.

"I want Lily back!" She cried, hugging her knees to her chest, "It's all too confusing for me! It makes me wish that I was the one who'd died and not her!"

I crawled so that I saw in front of her, staring into her eyes.

"Katia. I know life is confusing. But you have to embrace it. Don't ever say you wan't to die. Damn, I would know that death is awful... Every day you relive the moment you died, your injuries never heal... It hurts."

"I'm so sorry!" She cried, "that was so insensitive of me!"

I leant forward and pulled her to me. "Its fine," I whispered.

The door burst open, breaking us apart, to reveal Ethan.
