Sometimes, you just need to let go.

Let go of the past, let go of everything holding you back. That's exactly what I was trying to do.

Tonight was the night that I would let go.

Evan picked me up at the place and time that was specified. I'd be lying if I said he looked anything other than amazing.

He was wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans and a Beartooth shirt.

I thought I looked pretty good, which didn't happen very often. I was wearing my favourite ripped skinny jeans, and a Silverstein shirt.

Evan looked at me and smiled.

"You look gorgeous."

"Thank you... You don't look half bad yourself."

He chuckled. "Well damn, I thought I looked better than that, but I'll take it."

I looked down awkwardly. I mean, I hadn't been on a real date in a really long time. Plus, I was so fucking nervous that he wouldn't turn out like Tyler. I really didn't need that again.

Evan cleared his throat, "So, shouldn't we get going?" He mumbled.

"Um, I guess we should," Surprisingly, Evan opened my door for me. I chuckled under my breath. Evan didn't exactly strike me as the gentleman type.

After that, Evan started the engine, and we were off. It occurred to me that I still had no clue where we were going, so I asked, "Um, Evan, where the fuck are we going?" I asked hesitantly.

"It's a surprise," he smirked. Ugh, this boy was already being infuriating.

"Well," I started, "No offence or anything, but I don't exactly know you all that well, so forgive me for being slightly suspicious."

He grinned, "Relax, it's nowhere your mom wouldn't approve of, promise."

Well, he wasn't lying. After about 15 minutes of driving, we finally reached a destination. A questionable one in my opinion. We had ended up at a carnival. I hadn't even had a clue there was one in town. Just goes to show how little of a social life I had. Or just a life in general.

"Really Evan, a carnival? Could you get anymore cliché?" I teased.

"Actually, yes. I could. This was one of the less cliché ideas. If I were you, I'd be grateful." I shivered at the thought.

"Alright, alright. But um, I don't think I brought enough money for this..." I trailed off. Evan sighed heavily.

"It's a date, I'm supposed to pay for you."

I blushed. "I've only ever had one boyfriend, and we didn't really go on dates. When we did, he made me pay for myself. I just thought I was supposed to pay... Sorry."

He smiled sadly, "Well, in that case, I'm going to make this the best fucking date you will ever have." Evan said sincerely. I felt my cheeks warm again.

"Thank you, Evan. Wait, this isn't some cheesy, cliché way of getting in my pants, is it? Of course it is! I am so fucking stupid! Evan, I think you should drive m-" Then I was cut off, "Shayley, I promise you, I have at least some class. I don't try to bone anyone for at least 10 dates!"

He started blushing then, because he probably realized that wasn't the best wording.

"That's not what I meant! I just, ugh. Shayley, I really like you. As cheesy as it sounds, I feel some sort of weird attraction to you. I wouldn't ruin the chance of a relationship with you for some cheap fuck."

"Promise?" I whispered.

"I promise Shayley."

"I'm gonna win loser!" I cried out as a I bumped Evan's car.

"No way!" He yelled as he hit mine admittedly harder. I started laughing really hard, I couldn't remember the last time I'd laughed this much. It was great.

"Hey, after this, you wanna go on the Salt & Pepper Shakers?" He asked.

"OF COURSE!"

I loved the Salt & Pepper Shaker. It was definitely my favourite carnival ride. So far, this date was amazing, and I almost didn't want it to end.

**EVAN'S POV**

She was so fucking beautiful. I honestly couldn't explain it. The way she laughed, the way her eyes lit up with excitement and adventure, the way she twirled a strand of her hair every time she was joking around. She was simply perfect, and I wanted, no I needed her to be mine.

By the time Evan dropped me off at home, I had a giant Pikachu that he had won me, a bag of cotton candy, and a smile plastered on my face.

"Shayley?" He asked.

"Yes?"

"Do you think we could do this again sometime?"

"Of course, Evan. Message me on Facebook, and I'll give you my number."

"Alright. I had a great time tonight. See you at school on Monday?"

"See you then."

By the time I closed my front door, my mom basically attacked me with questions.

"How was it!? Was he nice!! Are you gonna see him again!? Where did he take you!? Did he kiss you!? Did you kiss him!? Tell me everything!"

"Mom, if you don't mind I'm gonna shower and go to bed."

"Alright sweetie, but tomorrow you're gonna tell me everything!"

"Okay Mom, night."

I had a good feeling about Evan. All I knew was that he would be a great adventure.
