Nandini

The car comes to halt in front of a huge, all white, classy looking mansion, as the big black doors leading us in open automatically.

Two guards salute Manik as his car passes them directly coming to a halt in front of a big black door, which I'm sure is the entrance to this heaven looking place.

"Let's go. Don't be nervous, everything's gonna be fine." I hear him say before unbuckling his belt and getting out of the car, as I do the same thing and we meet just in front of the door.

I inhale as much oxygen as I can before speaking, "Can't we go back? I don't know these people and I'm not getting good vibes."

He looks at me, but I keep looking everywhere except towards him and the door, "Trust me?"

I quickly look at him wanting to find the motive behind that question, but his eyes only reflect eagerness as they stare into mine.

I know he probably wants an answer, but I don't have it. I know I should tell him a yes, but what if he breaks the little bit that I've build so far.

I look at the floor and keep silent, which I know somewhere crushed the hope I saw in his eyes, if it was hope.

"We.. We should- go inside." I gulp down the lump building in my throat as I follow him to the door and wait after he rings the bell.

Not long after, the door is opened by a woman in her late thirties clad in a grey, pencil skirt and a white a shirt tucked in it. White pearls necklace adorning her neck.

She smiles at us and Manik returns it back as he hugs her whilst I stand their like a mannequin not knowing what to do or say.

"So good to see you, Manik." They part away and he kisses the back of her hand.

As she turns to me, my heart rate increases, not knowing what to do as she hugs me, "Finally got to meet you. You've grown so much."

My eyes look like oranges as I take in her words. Grown?

She pulls away and takes my face into her palms , before kissing on my forehead gently.

All this while my heart is racing like never before and my mind is filled with different question which I desperately want to ask, but keep quiet, not wanting to trust my voice at this moment.

Once she's back to smiling at us genuinly, she lets us walk inside and goes to find someone with the name of Agham.

As we sit on the couch in the middle of the big living room, a servant comes with juice glasses, which Manik takes and I subtly deny.

I shouldn't be surprised about the fact that he already knows the so called Superiors, that's why he's so calm around here, whilst I'm feeling a rush of emotions, but it still amazes me how he's not even intimidated a bit.

As I lean a little towards Manik, wanting to ask him about that woman, he gets up from the couch putting his juice down, followed by me as we both look at the woman who met us before holding hands and descending with a man wearing a navy blue suit.

Typical rich couple.

I shush my brain's boldness as they both aproach us with stretched lips.

Are they the Superiors?
Because they look like your average millionaire couple.

As soon as they stop in front of us, Manik bows down in front them saying something like, "Lady. Sir."

I look at him confused, but I follow what he does.

Couldn't he tell me before entering that we had to behave like we're in 20th century?

"You don't have to do all these formalities." The man says with a slight smile adorning his lips.
From how he's standing and talking, I can say even he's in his late thirties.

It would be a shame on me if they both are older than that, because they look quite young.

Once he's wrapped his arms around Manik for a quick hug, he comes to me and holds both my hands, before kissing them.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you Nandini." Not knowing what to reply, I try to stretch my lips as a response, but I'm not sure if I'm able to do that properly.

When he stands back with the woman, I'm quick to take a deep breath, which I didn't realise I was holding all this time.

"Nandini, we know how all this is so new to you." Glad you realise. "We know you have a lot of questions in your mind." More than a lot of them. "But all I can say is that, please, trust us." I want to chuckle at her words, but I hold it back not wanting to make a fool out of myself.

Trust them? Why should I trust them? I don't even know who these people are. What they do. Why they behave so formally. Why does Manik call them Superiors.

My thought process is broken by a manly voice, and I know it's not Manik's, so when I look up, the one wearing the suit is speaking, "Whatever you're going to know today is nothing but the truth. We're not lieing and this is not a prank we're pulling on you." Whilst I try to register their words culelessly, a hand wraps itself around mine giving me the much needed warmth as a sign of support.

"We know, all your life, you've lived a normal person's life. You've lived like any normal human being would."

Are they vampires or something? 'Cause that would be so cool.

Shut up brain!

I focus back on what the man is saying, and try to capture the meaning behind his words that are literally passing from above my head, "Nandini, you're not who you think you are."

Before I can stop myself, words leave my mouth leaving me embarassed, "So am I vampire?"

I said that as a joke. Which meant I was expecting any answer from him, except the one he gives me, "You're not a vampire. But a grey wolf."

I look at them as if they've grown two heads, but their expressions are as serious as they could ever be. I turn towards Manik and he's looking at me the same serious way.

"I know you said it's not a joke. But it feels like one. Am I supposed to laugh?" I don't know what to say now as they stay silent, not even the sound of their breaths is heard.

"How am I a grey wolf or whatever, when they don't even exist. It's just a portion of fantasy created by humans."

"It's not fantasy. It's not created by human brain. It's the reality." I shake my head abruptly, not believing her words.

It can't be possible.

"But then, where are my powers? Why don't I have a wolf as my subconcious? Where's my mate?" Manik's grip on my hand tightens on the last question, but I ignore and focus on the people who are now sitting on the baige coloured couch in front of me.

"For these questions to be answered, we have to-" The woman, who Manik had refered as Lady, is interrupted by the door bell ringing.

"She's here and she'll answer all your questions." Lady smiles at me and detaches herself from Sir to go and open the door, welcoming inside another woman, who I'm sure is in her early sixties.

Whoever she is, I can deschiper that she knows a lot of things, which takes me to the conclusion: This is going to be a very, very long day.
