Ch 41: Merome!

(Jerome's POV)

Watching Mitch from the bushes I saw him pick up the small foxes, "Jerome?" Mitch called around while looking around, walking out of the bushes I walked up behind him, "Right here." I said surprising him. 

Mitch spun around and looked at me, smirking I felt my heart beat in my chest, "Don't scare me!" Mitch said with fake anger, "So are we going to the place I want to show you or what" I asked while putting my hands into my pockets.

"Yeah lets go!" Mitch said with new energy, "Not tired anymore?" I asked walking towards the place I wanted to show Mitch, "I guess but I still want to sleep." Mitch said holding the fox kits that were in his jacket close to him.

"It's just up this hill." I said as we got to a large hill, "What do you have planned?" Mitch asked teasingly but I kept walking, "I found this while walking around I thought you might like to see this." I said as we kept walking.

As soon as we got to the top I saw Mitch look at awe at how many stars there were in the sky, "Ya like it?" I asked sitting down on the grass and looked up at the stars to see multiple constellations.

I heard Mitch sit down and I felt the warmth of Mitch leaning against me as he looked at the stars, "I'm taking that as a yes?" I asked looking at him, the small fox kits got out of Mitch's jacket and started to wonder around but didn't wonder far.

I watched as Blade a silver pelted fox walk up to me and sniff my hand, "Foxes." I said petting Blade right before he bit down hard on my finger, "Ow hey!" I said jokingly while Mitch picked up Blade and set him down away from me.

"He didn't hurt me that bad besides their to cute to be harmed." I said right as Galaxy the one Mitch named walked up to me and jumped up onto my lap, "I'm probably just being a bit overprotective of them since their now in my care." Mitch said looking at Galaxy who had jumped off me and was tackling Blade.

"You're always overprotective no matter what." I said jokingly while keeping my eye on the kits, I saw that every time they got a bit away they always ran right back towards Mitch, looking towards my left I saw a small black fox with purple eyes looking straight up at me.

"What are their names?" I asked looking at Mitch, "That's Void." Mitch said mentioning to the black fox cub, "The sandy one is Dune, the white one is Galaxy, the silver one is Blade, and the red one is Fang." Mitch said right as the four other kits started chasing each other.

"Good names." I said petting Void who was looking up at the stars, "Do you ever feel like something is missing in your life?" Mitch asked not taking his eyes off the stars, "Actually yeah I do, and I could easily turn that around but I don't out of fear." I said looking at the four kits that were playing.

"What do you mean by that?" Mitch asked taking his eyes off the stars, thinking I could either risk my friendship with him or lie about it, quickly making a choice I looked at him, "I mean that the thing that I feel like I'm missing is in my view but I'm afraid of taking the chance of having it." I said looking into his eyes.

"I gotta say it's the same for me as well." Mitch said right before Void yipped up at us, "What is it Void?" Mitch asked the small fox kit, Void looked over to the other kits, and there was a large wolf standing there a dark red liquid that looked fresh was all over it's muzzle was walking towards the kits.

"Galaxy! Dune! Blade! Fang! Over here now!" Mitch yelled while I quickly got up and ran towards the wolf, jumping in front of the wolf I stood in between him and the kits that were now frozen in place by fear.

"Fight if you are true." I challenged while glaring at the wolf, I saw a gleam of ambition in it's eyes right before it leaped at me it's jaws wide open, grabbing a branch I quickly held it in front of me to where the wolf bit on the branch instead of me, jumping back I saw the wolf shake the head and snap the branch into splinters.

I heard it growl loudly but I didn't dare back up anymore out of fear of the wolf hurting the kits, as the wolf jumped forwards to try and bit me I looked around for something to protect myself again and I found another branch.

Picking it up I did the same thing I did with the other branch and the wolf bit down hard into the branch, backing up a bit I saw the wolf shake it's head and even paw at the branch as it tried to get it's teeth out of the branch.

Then it tired to bite down harder on the branch only to flinch in pain, I watched as the wolf looked at me with fear right before turning around and running off into the forest, turning around I saw that the fox kits were over near Mitch now.

Walking over to him I sat down right beside him, "you okay?" Mitch asked with a hint of worry in his voice, "You think a wolf like that can hurt me." I said teasingly while I pulled him into a hug, "I just wanted to know you could have said yes." Mitch taunted while he hugged me back.

'I guess I'll have to take a shot in the dark.' I thought as I pulled away from the hug the fox kits now playing on the roots of the tree that we were sitting by, pulling Mitch close to me I kissed him, I felt Mitch tense up but he quickly melted into the kiss and eventually kissed back.

Pulling away I looked into Mitch's eyes to see that they were shining like stars, 'I finally have everything I want.' I thought as Mitch snuggled against me, leaning against the tree I felt the soft fur of the fox kits as they laid down beside me curled up against each other for warmth.

Smiling I looked up at the stars I felt calm and happy until a random voice yelled "MEROME!"

'Great....'
