Andy had pretty much recovered his strength and felt fully capable of taking on any more guards that came his way.
"Right," he said, tearing his head away from the stars above him,"let's get back." He got down from the rock and began to pick up The Mour - Jake.
"Hey, Prophet, you sure you want to do that? You still look like literal shit. No offence." Ashley questioned him, unsure of how long his friend would last.
"Yep, none taken Deviant." Was Andy's reply, if Jake cared enough to save him from death the least he could do would be to carry him home.
"Hey, Jinxx, help me out here!" Ashley yelled, desperate to stop Andy from doing any further damage to himself.
"Nope. No point trying." Jinxx sighed, knowing full well that nothing short of dying would stop him from doing it. Andy grinned in victory and began to walk before turning back to face them.
"Which way is it again?" He said sheepishly.
"Follow me sweetie." Ashley grinned, leading them back and in the opposite direction Andy was going to walk. Andy felt Jinxx's fingers intertwine subconsciously with his own and felt that warm fuzzy feeling he had come to love return.
They were nearly at the camp when Jinxx realised something that he needed to know about The Prophet, and he couldn't seem to find the information in his mind.
"Hey, Prophet. How old are you?" Andy's face suddenly darkened and he stopped as he attempted to even remember what the date was before sighing in frustration.
"Depends, what's the date, or year." Jinxx felt a year roll down his cheek as he realised the true horror of the FEAR camp. Andy didn't even know how long he'd been in there.
"December 20th, 1998." Jinxx replied.
"Okay, so if I was 15 when I was sent there, in 1993...then I was there for 5 years which makes me...seventeen. Wait, did you say December 20th?" Andy added, trying to add the final mental calculation necessary. Jinxx nodded.
"Huh, guess I'm gonna be 18 in six days then" he mused before hurrying balcony up to Ashley and handing him Jake. Jinxx was going to follow.Andy but changed his mind when he saw what he was thinking. He sat down on the nearby log and shuddered. There was no way Andy needed company right now...wait, he needs someone... Jinxx ran in the direction Andy had gone.
Andy was standing at the monument he had seen when he first arrived at the camp. He took out his part of the constellation and began to etch names into the list. It had previously only had about fifty but now had well over double that. A crowd had begun to form, with the occasional gasp as someone recognised a name. Andy kept going, the name's flowing as freely as his tears. He had never had a chance to properly mourn at the FEAR institution. Any sign of weakness was swiftly punished so he was crying for everyone he had ever known that had died there. By now, there were over 150 names and the obelisk was almost full, but Andy still had so many he wanted to add.
He got up and began to draw the five pointed star with interlooping b's in the sand. He caught Jinxx's eye and gave him a sand smile before standing in the centre of the star, a black smoke poring from it and swirling around the obelisk. The ground began to shake and people screamed in terror. When it was over, the obelisk had widened immensely and all the names that Andy had known were written. A description of the person's time in the camp and their death was written neatly alongside their name. Andy stepped back to admire his handwork, the moon now almost beaten balcony by the sun. He then went to join Jinxx, allowing people to see if their lost friend or family member.
"Prophet, I...was there an Autumn Ferguson..." Andy nodded slowly, drawing Jinxx into a tight, comforting embrace when he began to cry.
"She spoke about you so often, she's the reason I've felt so close to being safe around you. She died trying to help someone through grief, they killed her and other person. It...it's something I've never been able to forget. The way she stood so defiantly, fighting until the very end," Andy took and deep breathe, attempting to calm his shaky voice, "I see her die so often. When I close my eyes...it's..." Andy trailed off unable to continue. A quiet hush had fallen on the camp and it seemed as though everyone was standing there, watching the new kid turn from a symbol of resilience to an emotional wreck within a matter of seconds. Andy was standing now, shaking with built up emotion, hidden tears falling from his dulled eyes.
Jake stood out from the crowd, a sad smile of remembrance on his face as he began to speak the thoughts of everyone in the settlement,
"Eve talked about you, she spoke of a child called Andy, a symbol of resistance. She would talk so often about a person who took every opportunity to try and help people like her escape. She spoke about the horrific punishments that they performed, punishments that everyone else was forced to watch. She talked about how ready you were to help others through troubling times, and yet how stubborn you were when it came to getting help yourself. She talked about how one day Andy would come and lead an army to free everyone in the prison. She talked about a Prophet." People all around nodded in agreement. All eyes were now on Andy, waiting for him to perform some incredible fear but he just stood there. At some point his and Jinxx's fingers must have intertwined because he felt a tug on his hand, a lifeline to escape. Andy didn't need a second and he ran with Jinxx until they were far from the others, alone in a tent that Andy could only assume belonged to Jinxx. It was far too dark to see anything by they were both blushing furiously in the knowledge of their own desires. Andy broke the tension and lent into Jinxx's waiting lips. Sparks exploded and all their fears vanished for a moment of pure bliss. Both of them had just defied everything they had ever been taught about romance.
But they didn't care.
