Johnny knew it was a bad idea, heck, he knew it was a stupid idea, but that didn't stop him from marching to the infirmary just to see Ten. Taeyong would burn him alive and Hansol would be so disappointed if they found out what he had done, especially since the two had constantly warned him not to stir any more trouble, but he couldn't seem to care about what they thought. He needed to talk to Ten, Johnny needed to see him in the flesh, he needed to be sure that Ten was alright.
"Ten's not like everyone else," Hyukjae said when he came to talk to Johnny. When Hansol went to answer the door, he introduced himself as Ten's father but Johnny could barely see the resemblance when he came face-to-face with the older man; they were nothing alike. Was Ten adopted? If so then it seemed like the only possible explanation, Johnny supposed. Because if Ten's claim about being human was somewhat factual, his father's aura spoke differently. It was just a small, tiny speck against the room's fluorescent light but Johnny's sharp gaze caught the shadow nonetheless; Hyukjae wasn't completely human. "He's different."
But if there was one thing that Ten and his so-called 'father' obviously shared, it was their uncanny wit and questionable sense of courage. The Alpha-Incubus didn't know what made the older so brave to come see him by himself given his infamous reputation but that earned a bit of Johnny's respect. Hyukjae had some balls. And, just like Ten, Hyukjae seemed rather fascinating, piquing the demon's curiosity. But Johnny couldn't shake the feeling that the other looked rather familiar, that he might have seen the older male somewhere before, maybe a few years back-Johnny couldn't remember though.
"I know that already."
"No, you don't understand. He's special," Hyukjae said, emphasizing his words. "Really special." And there was a something eccentric with the other's connotation that threw Johnny off.
The younger tilted his head to the side in confusion. "What do you mean?"
However, Hyukjae did not elaborate much further, instead he simply stared at the other, quietly taking in his physique before Hyukjae vaguely asked Johnny to take care of Ten, to protect him when needed be. He then collected himself and left, leaving the young demon baffled as the door shut closed behind his retreating back.
And so there he was; the much respected and feared Johnny Seo standing outside Ten's room like an idiot, like a fool. Quite ironic, really. After he had managed to slip pass lingering nurses and medical staff near the entrance, to his surprise, there was no one loitering around the patients' wing. Johnny thought that it would be heavily guarded, under impeccable security since Yunho really made a fuss when they brought Ten back but sneaking in hadn't been much a challenge for the demon. It was almost too easy that it seemed very suspicious.
But Johnny threw the idea aside as he was busy pacing back and forth across the empty hallway, debating whether to go in or not. What if Ten was still asleep? Should I just come back? What if he doesn't want to see me?
He was hesitating, and Johnny Seo never hesitated before. Hesitation was a sign of weakness and Johnny Seo was anything but weak.
