Chapter 1

Today is the big day, My dance competition!

I got up slipped on my ducky slippers and ran across the carpeted floor to the bathroom. I looked hideous my hair was so crazy, so i quickly fixed it up into a high ponytail, then brushed my teeth and ran back into my room. i found the comfiest clothing possible so i could relax before the competition.

I walked out of my room and tippy-toed to my 10 year old brother's room and knocked on the door three times then opened it and yelled "TIME TO GET UP BABY BRO" and he quickly sprang up throwing a pillow across the room at me, i giggled and whispered "sorry love you!" and walked out of the room

then i walked to my 14 year old sister's room and did the same thing as i did to my brother and she quickly put a pillow on top of her head so everything i said she could barley hear

I finally ran down the stairs to the kitchen and grabbed some frozen waffles out of the fridge and plopped them in to toaster

"hey dad!" i said once my dad walked into the room then following him was my step mom "oh....hey taylor" i said to her

my mom left my family when i was 8 it was a pretty rough time and i'm still pretty upset that my dad replaced her two months after she left with Taylor

"good morning carter" my dad said to me and i smiled "my competition is today dad!" i said rather quickly "i know are you ready?" my dad said after "i think i have the routine down i'm hoping for the best" i said unsure

my step mom added "i'm so excited to see your performance" she said nicely which was weird

There was a few minuets of awkward silence then my brother tommy walked into the kitchen complaining to my dad because i woke him up "tommy, stop she just wanted everyone up so they would be ready in time for her dance competition this afternoon" my dad said to him tommy replied "b-b-but dad!"

my dad cut him off with "tommy! your sister 17 she is aloud to wake you up am i clear?" tommy replied "yes dad" with a frown on his face

*ding* the toaster went off but i was busy cutting an apple and didn't notice so Taylor quickly got up and pulled them out i said "um thanks" she didn't reply

she was being unusually nice today i was quite confused

"Where is Steff" i said to everyone in the room they curiously looked around then i ran up the stairs

"Steffany? why aren't you coming down to eat?" i said to my sister she replied "i'm not hungry!"

steff hasn't been eating very much lately i wonder if something is wrong

"hey!" i found her in a corner of her dark room "what's wrong you haven't been eating lately or talking to anyone very much?"

"I don't need you getting in my business okay?" she said bluntly

"steffany if something is wrong i'm the one who you can tell that's what i'm here for!" i said

"Carter! i'm fine okay! now leave me alone" she said

"i'm not leaving until you come downstairs" i replied

"carter if you don't leave i'm gonna punch you" she said real loud

"STEFFANY!" i yelled "you need to calm down right now because i am your older sister and i deserve to know what is going on!" i stated

"Please just leave me alone" steff said as she started to cry

"Fine but tonight after the competition you need to talk to me and tell me what is going on!" i said rather loudly as i walked out of her room slamming the door

i need to focus on my dance i can't be worrying about other things today is the big day and i need to be ready!

i walked down the stairs and shouting "Everyone you need to get ready my competition starts at 3:00pm and i have to get there at 1:00pm Okay? Okay!"

everyone started getting ready and we then finally got to the gym we were competing at and i ran in and gave my best friend Mary a hug and started waving at the rest of our team "Hello guys! is everyone ready we are going to start practicing in ten!"

i walked over to the judge table saying hello and talking to them then a few feet away i saw a blonde tall girl with her hair up in a pony with a small pink bow

i walked over and said "Hi! i'm Carter and i'm from the L.A. Dance team!" she looked at me with a big smile and replied "Hi!! i'm Rydel and i am on the Hollywood dance squad!" and looked at her and smiled "Hi rydel! nice meeting you good luck today!" she looked at me and replied "Awh! thank you good luck to you too!" then we both walked to our teams

since i am team captain i yelled "Alright Girls! lets go practice!" we all ran to the dance floor and started to practice our dance

i have to do a front flip followed by a back flip then do a split and that stunt is the scariest thing ever i am so nervous i'm going to do something wrong! even though i've gotten it several times i think when i'm in front of the crowd it's going to make me mess up

we practiced the dance then ran to the bleachers and got some water and sat down watching the other teams practice

"Woah Rydel's team the Hollywood Dance Squad is amazing i really hope we can beat them!" i said to the other girls in our team the all replied "We can do it we got this!"

"Alright Ladies and Gentlemen Thank you all for coming out today! our first performance of the night is The L.A. Dance Team!" everyone started clapping my stomach squeezed and i got really nervous at the thought of running out there i'll be the center of attention when i do the flips and split and i am not thinking i will succeed

we all ran out to the floor, the music began we started our routine

it's coming it's coming the flips and spilt are coming

i started the front flip and landed then started the backflip

i was off rhythm

i fell

right on my back

i heard cracking

i gasped

my eye sight started getting blurry

i saw Rydel standing over me calling her brothers

i saw 4 guys running to me then standing next to her

one picked me up

i saw blonde hair

then blacked out
