I don't know how long I stayed outside, I was too angry and paranoid to go back to sleep. Just after it had happened I spent the next hour beating the shit out of a tree trunk. I didn't want to stop, it didn't really harm me, I healed immediately, which only made me angrier. After that I finally came out of my blind rage, I remember Braxton was still with me, I could feel his presence. He was sitting nearby, leaning against a tree trunk. His eyes were puffy and he was tearing at his nails. I examined him for a moment before offering my hand out to him. "You are never. Never. Leaving my sight again. Do you hear me, Koda? Never." He said sternly, looking up at me, the look on his face was deadly. I nodded lightly and gulped as he took my hand and stood up. Together we walked back to the house. I hated this place. I hated the people here. I kept reminding myself over and over again that I would take my revenge soon enough.
We walked back inside, being my nose was still being blinded by the lingering wolfsbane, I wasn't able to smell my parents, who were both waitings just inside the door. Together they stood like ghosts, pale and creepy looking in the dark hallway. As I walked inside, my eyes met my fathers, I kept his gaze, as we walked up the stairs, up until I could no longer see them. They wanted me gone. They were going to get a rude awakening.
Braxton took me into his bedroom where Ryker had been waiting on the bed, upon hearing me he jumped down and ran to my side, jumping and licking at me. I smiled lightly and knelt down on my knees, I brought Ryker into a tight hug and hid my face into his fur. Behind us, Brax closed and locked the door before walking into his bathroom to get bandages for my burns. After I had properly addressed Ryker I stood, he resumed his spot on the bed and I followed Braxton into the bathroom, where he cleaned and bandaged my burns. "I'm going to kill them," I said softly. My eyes fixed on the sink and the bloody rag he had used to clean my wounds. "I know you are." He replied and gently pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. He ran his finger down my jawline and to my lips, gingerly touching a cut I had not yet discovered, causing my attention to turn to him, curiously my eyes fixed on him. He examined me for a moment before sighing and looking into my eyes. "I love you, Koda. I knew I loved you even as kids. I will wait for as long as you want me to. But, eventually. I want you to be mine. I want to protect you. I want to be a part of you." After he had spoken I looked down, it took a lot in order for me to cry. But tonight had been just too much for me, and in telling me this, I began to sob. I fell into Braxton's arms and cried.
It had taken me an hour to gather myself and finally stop crying. "I love you too Braxton," I said quietly between sniffles. He had been running his hands through my hair comforting me. He was gentle with me, more than I had seen him be with anyone or anything else, but when he was angry, he terrified me.
I shifted my body to lay my head in his lap, he looked down at me with calm, gentle blue eyes, causing my lips to crease into a smile. I reached up and gently ran my finger along his cheek. It wasn't long before the sleepless nights caught up to me. I fell asleep right in Braxton lap. He lifted me and took me to his bed, Ryker moved out of the way in order for him to lay me down and cuddle up against me. Tonight I had no nightmares, I didn't wake up in a cold sweat, I wasn't afraid. Tonight I dreamed of a life with Braxton, after killing off those who had wronged me, a peaceful life without bloodshed or monsters besides the two of us. The thought of this calmed me, I knew he was here to stay. I knew that we would never be apart, he would always protect me.
