I hurried along the empty streets, the sidewalks and asphalt seemed to glow as the sun reflected off of the dimly lit morning air, I lifted my eyes from the path ahead of me only momentarily to catch the last glimpse of the fading glow of the sun. As the sun moved I followed it until it disappeared behind the large mountain range, once the glow had disappeared quickly my eyes shifted immediately back to the path ahead.
The air around me was cold, it seemed to lick at my skin leaving tiny goosebumps, sending harsh shivers down my spine which I shook off. As I walked, deep in thought I was interrupted by a large crashing noise coming from a nearby ally, being I wasn't the type of girl to run from the danger, cautiously I began walking toward the suspicious ally way.
I didn't know it now, but I would have been better off if I just kept walking. As I turned around the corner a large figure moved out of the shadows, standing almost an entire head taller than myself, as it graciously walked into the light of the single lamp post providing what little light there was in the alleyway. When he spoke it was smooth, confident and possibly a little shaky. All of which I picked up from what little words he'd said. I processed for a moment before realizing the figure was, in fact, addressing me.
"Koda, you shouldn't be here." His eyes gazed into my own, only causing me to narrow my own eyes, there was a sense of longing and pain residing within his, "And who the hell are you to tell me something like that?" I shot back almost immediately, my eyes still piercing into his.
All the while she was being distracted, she didn't realize that she had been lead directly into a trap, downwind two men had begun to sneak silently up the alley close to her, their footsteps silently falling against the pavement.
Moments after the exchange was made, I had realized what was happening, but before I could do anything about it two large arms wrapped around my own, I inhaled sharply due to the pressure they were applying to my body. I kicked and bit and lashed out but their grips were tighter than a vise, I wasn't getting out of this one very easily. I wasn't a large girl, I stood about 5 foot 6 inches, my hair is brown with hints of blonde and red and my body was extremely well built for a girl my size. I kept my cool only long enough to spit one last sentence his way. "You should really know who you're going after before you attack."
It all made sense now, the man in the alleyway was a warlock and the two holding her were werewolves, they had set a trap to capture for a reason that she didn't know. I looked from one man to the other before finally allowing my temper lose, my hands tightened into fists. Thankfully I'm not like any average human, in fact, I wasn't human at all.
Humans used the name werewolf but the proper name was Lycanthrope. Koda wasn't like any other werewolf she'd ever met before, she had strong alpha blood running through her veins but she had no pack when she shifted her pelt was coal black. Due to her small size, she was somewhat flexible and could move very quickly.
I glanced quickly between the two before making a plan to break free, I locked my arms in an L shape close to her body and used the two males arms to flip herself up and around them, now standing behind them I grabbed both arms and tugged until hearing a set of large cracks followed by yelps of pain, the two fell to separate sides of the alley making a clear path to the warlock ahead of me, I had to move quickly, it would only take a second for the males dislocated shoulders to correct themselves back into place. I began walking but stopped abruptly seeing that he had disappeared. I allowed raspy growl escape my lips and I turned back around I knew that the wolfs wouldn't be of much help, wolfs were extremely loyal to their alpha, they'd let themselves be killed before they'd spill anything which wasn't Koda's favorite thing to do, in fact, she wouldn't kill another of her kind unless she was forced to.
I turned and walked quickly from the ally leaving the two males nearly unharmed, I knew that the warlock had to be somewhere in the area, I could still smell him, so I quickened my pace to a light jog, turning sharply around a corner before seeing something heading directly towards my face, before I could throw up an arm to block the blow everything went black and I fell to the ground, hitting my head against the sidewalk. I gasped for a moment and tried reaching out for whatever, or whoever hit me. It wasnt long before my vision blurred and everything went black.
