"Do I have to go?" the young girl asked.

Her mother, Lauren, nodded, "yes, Parker you have to go."

Parker sighed, "but what if a meteor comes down on earth and happens to come crashing down on Lima, and hits this school? and what if I have a panic attack and die the instant I realize I can't breathe? And what if I--"

"Parker, you're not going to die. I'll walk you to the principal's office, okay?" her mother said as she dragged her daughter.

The two walked down the hall as they were stared at by the other kids wondering who the young girl was. The cheerleaders talk about what she's wearing and the jocks talk about how good-looking the girl is.

The two walked in to see his secretary, "can I have your name?"

Lauren nodded, " Smythe, Parker Smythe."

The lady nodded as she looked back down at the computer and looked back up, "you can go in."

"Thank you", Lauren said.

The two walked in and sat down while the principal put away a file from his desk. He turned around and smiled.

"Why hello, you must be our new student!," he said in an Indian accent, "my name is Principal Figgins, uh, what's your name?"

"Parker," the girl responded shyly, "Smythe."

He nodded and pulled out another file, "I see here that you're ahead of your classmates, you're taking most of our A.P. classes which is understandable. But, most of these are sophomore classes, are you sure you want to be taking these classes, or do you want to be at the same level as your other classmates?"

She shook her head, "I want to take these classes even if it means I'm ahead."

He smiled at her, "well then welcome to William McKinley High School," he said as he handed her a schedule of periods.

She looked down and read all her classes:

Lauren smiles at principal Figgins, "thank you so much."

"Of course; Ms. Smythe enjoy your first day at McKinley, " he said looking at the young girl.

She nodded a thank you and off the mother and daughter went to the hallway.

Lauren sighed, "okay, kid this is the part where I have to leave."

"Can't you stay until I figure out where my classes are?" Parker asked.

Lauren shook her head, "no honey, but I'll be there when you get home. We'll even have your favorite, spaghetti."

Parker shook her head," but mom, I don't know anyone here, and I-"

Lauren cut her off, "which is why I need to leave, okay."
