Everyone Has Two Eyes
But No One Has The Same View.~Unknown
°°°°°°°°°
A different nurse retrieved me from my room a little while later. By the passive look on his face when he looked at my battered appearance, it showed that he was used to this kind of thing. What kind of hospital is this? What are they trying to accomplish here by beating their patients while they're unconscious and vulnerable to the abuse? Unable to fight back...
The nurse walked me the opposite way from the community room with everyone else. I didn't get any breakfast, not that I was hungry anyway but isn't that something they need to worry about? We made it to a heavy white metal door with a small circular window in the middle of it. He unlocked it and took me inside where he sat me down at a silver colored table and silver colored chairs to match. The room seemed too bright with LED lights shining down from the ceiling and onto me.
"Stay put. The doctor will be in shortly." Was all the nurse said with his hands behind his back like an army man before he exited the room.
I sat there looking around the bright white room with a mirror, (most likely a two way) staring back at me from the opposite wall. No doubt they were watching me right now.
I sat there with my arms crossed over my chest awaiting the arrival of Dr. Marks, the head doctor of the hospital. No doubt he was watching me from behind that Mirror. I didn't say anything as I sat getting bored by the second.
"Am I just going to sit here all day or are you going to come in here and ask me your dumbass questions?" I yelled into the room.
I heard the door unlock in no time and saw the same man from yesterday, walk inside. He carried a skin tone colored folder with some papers by his sides and a fake smile on my lips.
"Hello... Thalia? Is it?"
"Just call me Tally."
"Alright, Tally. this is just an interview, there are no right or wrong answers to any of my questions so please answer them truthfully." He explained.
"An interview? Why woukd I want to be here? This is an interigation." I said passivly with my arms still crossed over my chest.
"Please be cooperative. It would be in everyones vest interest." He said as he shuffled through the papers from the folder.
"Please state your age." He said.
I stayed quiet.
"Where were you born?"
Nothing.
"How have you stayed alive over the years?"
I turned away.
"What is your idea or view on survival."
I got irritated and slapped the table. "What's your idea or view of your hospital staff sedating and beating the shit out of vulnerable patients?!"
He looked at me surprised. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me. I went through the crazy club initiation last night. Where do you think I received these?" I asked pointing to certain parts of my body, "Sleeping?"
"Who did that to you Mrs. Tally?" He asked with no emotion.
A clear indicator that this has happened before. I can read it in his body language.
"Ask Tweedle De and Tweedle Dumb. The big nurse with a shaved head and the smaller nurse that follows him around like a little blond puppy."
"Is this the first time this has happened to you?"
"What? Being Beaten when I'm incapable of fighting back? Can't say I have Doc."
"Thank you for your cander and hopefully we will have a little more headway in the days to come. Have a nice day Mrs. Tally." He said and got up to leave.
I don't really know if that's what you qualify to be a good conversation. I waited a while before someone came in to retrieve me from that room and it wasn't those two nurses. It was an big black man with tattoos covering his forearms and neck. he didn't say anything as hell grabbed me gebtly by the arm and pulled me up from my sitting position.
He didn't meet my eyes as he walked me out of the room and down the hallway. He walked past the community room and farther down the hall.
"Where are you taking me?"
He didn't answer me.
The farther we went through dimmer the lights got in the corridor. It became uncomfortable the farther we got and I could have sworn it sounded like screams were coming from down the hall.
I tried to get out of his hold. "Let me go..." I said.
I planted my feet but he pulled me forward.
"I don't want to go down there!" I yelled and tried to pull away.
He never spoke.
"Let me go!" I screamed.
He seemed to get tired of our tug of war so he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. He took me down some stairs into a mostly dark corridor with doors lining the walls. I could hear people behind them banging on the door and pleading to be let out. Screams echoed all around me, so much that I had to cover my ears.
What was this place and what were they planning to do to me? I couldn't see the floors because of the darkness and there was just enough light to make the shadows dance and play tricks on my mind. I could barley see bars on the little windows of the doors as my eyes adjusted and the hands fisting them tightly.
The nurses feet didn't echo do to the noise and no matter how far he got down the hallway I still felt like there was an evil down here that consumed this space. I felt safer in this strangers arms than I would wherever he was planning to take me.
"Please... Let me go." I pleaded.
"I'll talk, I'll do whatever you want, just please don't leave me down here alone."
He stopped and I hoped that he felt bad for me and decided to take me back upstairs where the light shone through the bared windows. Instead, he took out some keys that jingled in his hands and unloading something in front of him. When it sounded like the dead bolt came out of place he opened something big, made of metle which scraped against the ground. He walked inside and placed me gently on the ground and stepped back with his head down. The room was dark besides the light that came through the open door casting his shadow over me.
"I'm sorry." He said and shut the door with a bang locking me in here for who knew how long.
