"I'm home!" I shout. I walk into the kitchen and for the second time that day, I find my family all gathered around the table. I walked over to Millie's high chair and pulled her out, walked her round to my chair and sat her on my lap. "Cassandra, we have something to tell you." Mum said. Then she looked at dad expectantly. I already knew that this was going to be bad news. Dad looked at me sternly. "Cassie darling, you know that we love you dearly and want what is best for you. So it is with this in mind that we have decided to send you to Grandma Pats house for a few months." He said.
I wasn't expecting him to say something like this. I was shocked into silence. "But dad, Granny Pat lives, like, 200 miles away!" I stated. Dad looks at mum and mum looks back at him. Then they both look at me. "Yes darling, we feel that a bit of time at the farm will do you the world of good." Mum says. Suddenly, I can't take it anymore. I place Millie on her play mat and sprinted to my room. I then sink into my bed and cry until I can't cry anymore.
The next morning, I wake up early, having had the longest sleep I have had in a long time. Then I remembered the happenings of the past evening and sobbed again. After having another long cry, I went into Millie's room like I do every Saturday morning. "Morning Millie!" I say and pick her up out of her cot. "You're up early too this morning! It's 8am on a Saturday, normally we all sleep in until 9am!" I found reassurance in the fact that Millie is awake too, even though she is a baby and her sleeping patterns are irregular.
Then James decided to walk in at that moment. "If you have come to rub it in J, then just leave now. I'm not in the mood." I said. James came over to me and hugged me in a way that normal brothers do, but mine doesn't normally. "What was that for, J?" I asked when he pulled away. "Cass, sometimes I really like getting you into trouble but this is a bit extreme for the parents to send you to Granny Pat's, dad has taken it too far this time." He said, then shrugged. This made me want to cry again, and I don't even cry that often. I set Millie back into her cot, said goodbye to my siblings and returned to my room to begin packing.
One hour later mum walked into my room. "Cassie, you will be leaving tomorrow. You may have the house this afternoon to say goodbye to your friends. You will not be returning to your school until the next school year, so you will be spending the next 2 terms at a new school" mum said. She left my bedroom and shut the door. I can't believe it. I have to go to some rubbish farm area school for the rest of the school year! It's only April now which means that I need to spend a whole 4 months in a new school and I don't even know how much longer than that my parents will make me stay living with Granny Pat. This is going to be disastrous.
I pulled out my IPhone and scrolled through my Twitter. I hope they have internet at the farm. I then texted Allie and a few other friends from school (I don't really talk to them but I will invite them anyway otherwise my leaving party will just consist of me and Allie). I invite Allie, Sally, the twins - Rochelle and Rebekah and a group of the boys - Peter, Callum, Dan and Jacob. I tell them that it is really sudden but I will be leaving the village tomorrow and they are invited to my leaving party. They all instantly responded that they could come and Allie phoned me. "CASS!" She screamed down the phone. "WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE OF YOU LEAVING THE VILLAGE?" I frowned.
How could I have forgot to tell my best friend that I am leaving the village? "It's just that Allie, my dad was angry so teamed up with mum and they are sending me to Granny Pats for ages so I will be living on a farm for a while. A long while." I heard Allie sigh, then sniffle down the phone. She choked a breath like she was about to cry. "Cassie, I'm going to miss you so much. I am coming round your house now so that we can cry before everyone else arrives." Allie said, half laughing about the thought of us crying together and half crying because this is such sad news. I laughed and said "ok, see you soon." And then I hung up.
