Nobody knows how to say goodbye
It seems so easy 'til you try
Then the moments passed you by
Nobody knows how to say goodbye*

"Dad, you are going to make me late for my flight. You have to let me go," I blurt out as I chuckle.
"I don't want you to go, baby girl!" My dad whines.
"Babe, let her go! We have to go pick up the boys from my moms!" Shannon yells from behind us. I roll my eyes at the whiny bitch. My dad lets go of me and huffs.
"You call me if you need anything, princess, and I mean anything!"
After boarding my flight and getting comfortable in my seat, I was fast asleep. California to New York is a big time jump for me. My mom wanted me to come to visit for a while before I went off to college and I agreed. I grab my luggage from baggage claim and start walking through the airport.
My bags are heavy and killing my arms. I have three duffles and two big suitcases filled with clothes and other necessities. Since I am going to my mom's for two months and then straight to Washington with Cori, my best friend, I needed to pack everything I could.
"ANDY!!!" I turn in the direction of the voice and see my mom running towards me.
I smile as she tackles me to the ground. Her blonde hair lays in my face as she squeezes tightly. My mom and I barely resemble each other. We share the same eye color and that's it.
"Stacy, I believe she would like to breathe," I move my mom's hair out of the way and see Leo standing in his comfy attire. Leo is in grey sweatpants and a loose black shirt.
Leo pulls my mom off of me and I stand up then fix my luggage. My mom is five foot four inches with long blonde hair, grey eyes, and a pale skinny white woman. Leo, on the other hand, is six foot five inches with tan skin, pepper black hair, small beard, muscular, and tattoos from the neck down. They go well together, personality wise and looks. Like a match made in heaven, sort of.
I walk to Leo and he pulls me into a hug. He kisses the top of my head. "Good to have you back. How's your dad?" Leo asks.
I pull away from Leo and look up at him. "He is good. He didn't want me to leave," I reply.
Leo chuckles. "We should head home, it's almost eleven at night," my mom butts in.
I nod and get my luggage. The three of us go to Leo's car and put my luggage in the back then head to their house. Leo and my mom have been together since my mom was twenty-two. My dad married Shannon when she was twenty. I prefer Leo over Shannon.
"So which college did you say you were going to?" My mom asks from the front seat.
"I haven't told anyone. I want to go off in peace and I want to get everything done without distractions," I reply.
"But why? What if we want to come to visit you?" My mom asks in a saddened voice.
"I just do. I will keep in touch but I don't want people to know. I like my privacy," I respond.
My mom stops asking questions as we pull up in front of the gate. Leo and my mom live in a mansion on the outside of New York City. It's a beautiful fifteen bedroom, seven and a half bath white mansion. Two trees on each side of the front door. There are plenty of windows through the mansion to let natural light in. There is a garden out back and a big metal garage beside the mansion. A balcony is over the front door with pillars holding it up.
The inside doesn't match the outside by a long shot. Everything is shiny and very expensive. There is no carpet in the house whatsoever. The mansion has three floors, a basement, and an attic. My room is on the second floor.
The big metal gates open and we drive in. Leo parks the car and we get out. Leo grabs my luggage and we go inside. Leo sets my stuff beside the stairs as two maids walk out of the kitchen.
"Miri and Gail will take your stuff up to your room and unpack them. You can come to eat with us. Alessio should be in there with Hannah," Leo states.
I nod. The three of us go into the dining room to see Hannah, Alessio, and their son Luca. Alessio has dark brown hair and bright blue eyes as well as a sharp jawline and other god-like features. Hannah is just a plain Jane type girl. As for their son, he looks like a good mix between the both of them. Luca has shaggy dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes and pale like Hannah.
"Booger!" I snap out of my thoughts and look at Alessio as he pulls me into a hug. "I haven't seen you in forever!"
"You saw me at Christmas but it's good to see you," I reply.
Alessio squeezes me tight and then let's go. I look over at Hannah and she smiles at me as she holds Luca. "It's good to see you again, Andy," Hannah says.
I nod and smile. "I missed you guys," I reply.
I look at Luca as he puts his head in the crook of Hannah's neck. "We are having burgers and fries," Alessio says.
I nod and walk around the table and sit down. Two maids bring out the food and everyone sits down at the table. We say a quick prayer and then pass the food around.
"So what are you going to study in school?" Alessio asks.
"Well, I want to be a school teacher," I reply.
Alessio scrunches his brows at me. "Why would you want to be something like that?" Alessio asks.
"Well, what do you want me to be?" I ask.
"Be a Lawyer or something. Public Defender or Prosecutor?" Alessio asks.
"I could. I have the grades. I will think about it," I reply.
Alessio nods. "I know you just got in and you're going to want to rest but we have an event tomorrow night and it requires you to dress up," my mom blurts out.
I groan as I shove a fry in my mouth. "What kind of event?" I ask.
"A gala. It's important for Leo and his firm as well as other people," my mom replies.
"Do you have a dress for me already or am I going to have to go shopping?" I ask.
"I have your dress and it will be delivered tomorrow," my mom says.
I nod. I eat my food as we fall into a comfortable silence. It was never silent at home. There was always a commotion going on. It was hard to study there and get stuff done with everyone being crazy. My dad hates it. I know he does.
"It's midnight everyone, let's go get some shut eye."
