"Everything is just peachy, Peach," I murmur. "How did you outgrow this dress already? We just bought it two weeks ago."
"I don't know. I have been working out and eating healthy. Can we get Grams to fix it?" Peach asks.
"Maybe," I murmur. "Take it off and take it to her. Ask and then tell her that you need it by tonight."
"Okay," Peach murmurs.
I leave her room and go across to mine and Matteo's. Mariano and Matteo are sprawled out on the bed asleep. We had one more kid to even the playing field. We have six kids now; Peach, Sienna, Alessandro, Aurora, Giani, and Mariano. So many kids, I know. So much to keep up with, I know.
I walk to my side of the bed and pick up Mariano. He is small for a four-year-old sort of like a runt but he looks exactly like Alessandro. It's sort of scary sometimes. I take Mariano to his and Giani's room. I lay him in his bed and cover him up.
I make my way back to my room and climb in bed beside Matteo. I stare at his chiseled body. My hand slowly traces the names of all our children.
"How long have I been asleep?" Matteo mutters.
"Few hours...since before seven this morning," I murmur.
"How did the fitting go? Did the dress fit?" Matteo asks.
I look up at him as he peacefully lays there with his eyes closed. "It doesn't fit. She is growing faster than we can buy new clothes. This is her first time going out in a dress since her weight gain. I want the dress to fit her perfect and her to feel comfortable," I reply.
"Did you tell her to take it to your mom?" Matteo asks.
"I did," I murmur.
"She'll eventually stop growing, Andy," Matteo states.
"I know but she grows more and more uncomfortable by the day. She has no friends and everyone bullies her," I respond. "She's sixteen, she's supposed to be having fun not wanting to have a surgery to get rid of her fat."
"She wants to have surgery?" Matteo asks as he sits up and looks at me.
"She asked about it. She was curious," I reply.
"How did that conversation go?" He murmurs.
I sit up and look at him. I run a hand through my hair and take a deep breath. "She cried and I stared at her until she stopped and then I explained to her that if she really wanted it in the future then we could discuss it then. She agreed with me and we hugged," I reply.
"Do you think she will want it in the future?" Matteo asks as he pulls me onto his lap. Matteo lays back on his pillow and puts his hands on my hips.
"If she continues to grow then yes but if she doesn't I think she could work it off, try a new diet, we will just have to wait and see."
"Oh my god, you look beautiful baby girl!" Matteo almost yells as Peach walks down the stairs.
Peach is in a peach-colored strapless dress with a slit up her thigh. The dress is tight but not too tight. It fits her well. Her hair is curly and part of it is pinned to the side. She looks absolutely stunning.
Cameras flash from all directions as she finally reaches the bottom of the stairs. A knock comes from the front door. I walk over to it and pull it open. A guy way taller than me stands there with a bouquet of red roses. He has shaggy brown hair with baby blue eyes.
"Who are you?" I ask.
"I am Darius," he says.
I raise my brows. "Is this some kind of a joke?" I ask.
"No, Ma'am, I asked her out yesterday before we left school," Darius says.
I turn around and look at Peach as she takes selfies with everyone. "Peachy poo, did you have a date and not tell us?" I ask.
Everyone looks at me and then at Peach. "Uh, yeah," Peach nervously says.
"Well, have fun and don't come home pregnant for the love of god," I state.
Peach turns red. I move out of the way and take the flowers from Darius. Peach comes and hugs me then leaves with Darius. Everyone goes their separate ways and I put the flowers in a vase.
I go upstairs to Matteo and my room. I change into more comfortable clothing and climb in bed beside Matteo as he works on his laptop. Matteo is always working no matter where he is. The mafia deserves a lot of attention from the unknown boss. Well, he is unknown to the perfect little civilians of the world. He has business around New York that thrive but he only goes there when necessary. My phone starts ringing on my nightstand and I pick it up and see it's Peach calling.
I answer the phone and put it on speaker. "Mom," Peach murmurs as she sniffles.
"What's wrong, Peach?" I ask.
"It was all a joke. The date was a joke. I'm covered in eggs walking down the road from the school. I have feathers on me and I am starting to stink. They called me a fat pig and told me I would never have a boyfriend because I look like a fat whale."
