"Why would you ever choose to walk if you could hover all the time?" Edd asked, wondering why Tom chose to trot on the ground next to them when he could be flying.

"Hovering saps up my energy," Tom replied, shoving his hand into his pant pockets.

While on the ground, Matt could definitely tell the difference in size between him, Edd, and the Alien. Matt was taller than Edd by a few inches, but he was taller than Tom by about a foot. Edd was taller than Tom too, but Tom didn't seem to mind.

The track back to Edd and Matt's house was filled with questions targeted at Tom. Tom kept his head lowered down, but answered all the questions.

"What's it like on your planet?" Matt asked.

"It's dark and gloomy. A lot of disputes take place between our planet and the neighboring ones. The leader on my planet is cold and ruthless, and wants to conquer the galaxy in order to rule it with unlimited power," Tom explained.

Matt and Edd gave each other a worried glance.

Does this involve Earth too? Matt wondered.

Edd voiced his question. "Does this mean he's gonna come after Earth?"

Tom nodded. "Oh yeah. Definitely. Well, kinda. He sent a scout here a couple months ago to gather information but the scout never reported back to him. He thinks the scout might've betrayed him, or he's been killed. That's why he sent me."

Tom paused for a minute, giving a shaky breath.

"As Red Leader's right hand man, he trusted me enough to send me down here and look for the man," the alien continued. "Little did the bastard know, the only reason I agreed to come was that so I could escape him."

Matt and Edd were silent for a couple minutes.

"How do you know English?" the ginger suddenly asked.

Tom gave him a side glance. "Why wouldn't I know English? I know every language throughout the galaxy? Don't you?"

Matt and Edd both shook their heads.

"Oh," Tom mumbled. "When we're young, microchips are implanted in our brains allowing us to speak multiple languages."

The black eyed boy stopped for a minute.

"Where are you taking me?" he asked, after a minute of silence.

Matt smiled cheerfully. "Back to our house! You can't just stay outside, silly."

"But why?" Tom asked. "You just met me. I could be here to kidnap you and use your bodies for experiments."

Matt shuddered and immediatly froze, and Edd placed a firm hand on Tom's arm.

"That's not what you're here for though, right?" Edd checked.

Tom shook his head, his expression bland and monotone. "No. I came to the Earth with the intentions of never going back to where I came from. I have another question."

Edd hesitantly released Tom's arm and continued walking. "What's your question?"

"Why can't I see that well?" Tom asked.

Matt smiled. "I know the answer to this one! Because it's dark outside."

"Because it's dark, there's no light to illuminate the world around us. It wont get brighter than this until day time," Edd added.

Tom nodded.

Edd and Matt continued to question Tom about little things on his home planet. Like the color of the sky. Or did he have family.

Tom didn't have any family. Not living, at least.

When the duo, plus their new alien friend, arrived at the house Edd and Matt shared, Tom was hesitant to go inside.

"Are you sure about this?" Tom asked, nervous, and slightly shaking. Matt could tell Tom was cold; the poncho he was wearing only went down to his elbows, and the t-shirt underneath didn't do anything to warm him up.

"Yes we're sure," Matt stated firmly. "Me and Edd are not gonna turn away an alien we just met and make him struggle in the cold."

Tom's face grew red, and he quickly strode away from the front door.

"Give me a minute," he mumbled, in an almost annoyed type of voice.

Edd shook his head, a small smile on his face, and Matt watched the alien with confusion.

Edd walked inside and flipped on a light, almost immediately hearing footsteps rush towards the house. Tom pushed past them and ran into the home, collapsing to the ground with a sigh of relief and a bunch of giggles.

"It's so bright in here!" Tom exclaimed. He rolled over onto his back, staring up at Matt and Edd's ceiling. Tom could see so much detail now that he had light. He stood up, and walked closer to his acquaintances. They both watched him with curious expressions.

Tom reached his hand up and gently set his hand on Matt's cheek.

"You have stars on your face," the alien said in awe.

Matt turned slightly red, and looked away. He always thought badly about his freckles because some people had called them ugly and unstylish. He believed Tom was making fun of him for having freckles.

"They're really pretty," Tom added, staring right into Matt's eyes. "Nobody on my planet was gifted with the beauty of the universe on their face."

Matt looked back at Tom and gave a smile. "You really think they're pretty?" he asked.

Tom nodded. "Yeah. Definitely."

Matt had a burst of confidence, knowing that someone from a different planet thought that he was beautiful. Or that his freckles were beautiful at least.

"Well I think they're pretty too," Matt said, winking and giving a confident smile. "Although I've never seen them as stars. But now I will."

Tom gave a small smile and removed his hand from Matt's face. Edd smiled as well. Tom didn't seem that bad. Matt definitely seemed to like him, and trust him.

"Follow me, Tom," Edd said. "We have an extra room that you can have."

Tom's face lit up. "You'll let me stay here?!"

Matt smiled, and Edd nodded.

"Of course," Edd replied.

"Such a silly question," Matt added.

Edd and Matt led Tom up to his room. There was a queen sized bed with checkered blankets on it, and two pillows. Next to the bed was small dresser.

"Kinda convenient we had a bed with blankets on it, huh Matt?" Edd asked, trying to remember why they had a separate room where someone could stay.

Tom raced into the room and jumped on the bed, bouncing slightly and messing up the covers.

"It's so big and comfy," Tom exclaimed. "My old bed was so small. And I didn't have blankets or pillows. Only Red Leader had those."

"This Red Leader guy sounds like a meanie," Matt said.

"He is," Tom agreed.
