Shaundra's POV
My best friend, Amber, and I decided to get Cane's after attending a cheer meeting at school.
We were sitting in a long car line, and I was starting to get agitated because of not having anything to eat besides my protein shake from this morning. Plus, my mother was good friends with the manger and if he saw me I was in DEEP SHIT. If mom knew that I went off of the diet that we decided to start together, she'd loose herself. I was already was tired of her mouth about me throwing the party and wasn't looking forward to it again; there was no need for me to deal with the stress today.
I had been looking forward to Cane's all day today, because I was desperate for some chicken in my life.
Me: Oh my god! Can you fuckin' go? The line is moving!
I yelled out the window to the car infront of us.
Amber: Chill, boo. You will get your chicken. Don't be taking it out on them. Why'd you even decide to do that diet shit anyway? You knew you wouldn't last.
She said scrolling through Instagram on her phone and then giggled.
I looked at her in disbelief then sighed.
Me: I'm the cheer CAPTAIN. I need to stay in shape, but it's hard! I'm literally hungry all the time and those dumb ass shakes aren't doing it for me!
I pulled up in the line some more.
Amber: If you're hungry, then eat. It's that simple. Plus, thick is in now!
She said sticking out her tounge and showing off that she had a perfect figure.
Me: No, its not that simple. If I eat, then I'll gain weight, and I can't gain weight.
Amber: Why, what's wrong with that?
Me: well....
I tried to think of a good enough reason that would satisfy her.
Me: Some people may not find me attractive if I get thick.
Amber: Oh please! Who are you trying to empress?
She joked.
I stayed silent and thought about Von, who lived a couple of doors down from me and who I had met over the summer. When my mom and I were getting out a few groceries, he offered to help bring them in, and my mom was so grateful and impressed by him being such a gentlemen, that she offered that he stay for dinner so that we could properly introduce ourselves.
I instantly fell for him when he offered to take the bags that were in my hand luring me in with is beautiful smile.
His smile was everything, making me feel like I was the luckiest girl on Earth just to be in his presence.
Ambers eyes lit up.
Amber: Oh, my god! SHAUNDRA!
She said as she playfully hit my shoulder.
Me: What?
I said feeling a little embarrassed.
Amber: Girl, come on now. I know you better than anybody! This isn't just about you! It's about that guy from the party isn't it?
Me: What? No!
I said trying not to make it seem so obvious.
Amber looked at me in disbelief.
Amber: Yes it is!
I pulled up in the line more.
Me: Okay, so what if it is?
