***AN: Hi guys! If you could please leave a comment and/or a vote for me, that would be super helpful. Thank you so much!***
I tapped my foot against the kitchen table impatiently. I glanced at my phone for the fifteenth time in the last 20 minutes before I heard my mother clear her throat.
She was staring at me over the thick rim of her black reading glasses. I smiled sheepishly and said "Sorry, just..."
"Excited?" She asked. I laughed once, and checked my phone again. I had gone home thursday night after my final class finally ended. Spring break started Monday, but not having Friday classes made my break extra long.
Now it was Friday afternoon and I was waiting very impatiently for Alondra to get here. She was spending the entire break with me down here for a change. After my last visit, we had been growing ever closer.
We laid tangled together in her bed for the rest of the night after our... suprise activities during my last visit. I held her close and ran my fingers up and down her back lightly in silence until she finally asked me what had scared me so badly in my nightmare.
I wasn't sure if I should tell her... but I did. I was so tired of living my life with a giant secret, that I decided to stop hiding things from people. Once I told her she lushed up on one elbow with a smile and kissed me slowly.
"Sounds like you're making progress"
"How do you figure?"
"If you had that dream any earlier, Dream You would have left me in the dust; but this time you were conflicted. I know it doesn't seem like anything to celebrate but... it sounds like your subconscious isn't telling you Chelsea is your only option anymore."
We had talked on the phone every day since then. Some days it was only fifteen minutes, other days it was for hours. Thoughts of Chelsea stoll plagued me, but now they had to share my brain with thoughts of Alondra.
I heard footsteps banging down the stairs, and my brother appeared behind my mother. He walked over and kissed the top of her head before heading into the kitchen.
"Hey Chris, how's school?" He asked me as he pulled the carton of orange juice from the fridge. I looked at Mom, who was once again glaring over the rim of her glasses.
Mark unscrewed the cap and lifted it to his lips. He cut his eyes to Mom, and she lifted an eyebrow challangingly. He chuckled and lowered the carton.
"I'm just messing with you, Mom. I'm getting a cup." He said with a wink. Mom and I both rolled our eyes and said "She's going to kill you one day." Mark laughed and took a swig of his juice.
"Yea, probably. Luckily I can outrun her." He replied. Mom shook her head and went back to her book, but I saw a small smile on her lips. She was happy to have us home, even if she was already over our antics.
"When is Alondra supossed to be here?" Mom asked me. I checked the time and my heart fluttered.
"She said it would be about one o'clock. So roughly five minuets if she made good time. I haven't talked to her in an hou-"
I was cut off by my phone ringing. I fished it out of my pocket and smiled at Alondra's picture that greated me. I clicked the answer button and put the phone to my ear.
"Hey, you lost?" I asked. She giggled and replied "For once, no. Does your family have one of thoes cliché, super cute yard flags with a sunflower flag hanging from it?"
I grinned. Mom had consistantly changed thoes flags for every holiday and change of the season since I could remember. I swear, some of thoes flags are older than I am.
