I couldn't get rid of the enormous smile on my lips even if I tried. And the worst part; I didn't know why. This day had been an emotional rollercoaster, I should have been exhausted and confused but no. For some reason I was happy. And of course, having a nosy, little sister meant that this had to be pointed out before I even had the chance to take off my jacket.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Kaily walked towards me, a small smile playing on her lips as well. I tried to ignore her.

"How is Nick?"

"Why are you changing the topic?"

"Kaily!" She rolled her eyes at my wannabe stern gaze before she answered, "He just fell asleep."

"Did you check his temperature again?"

Kaily nodded. "Yeah, it's just a little over average, nothing to worry about."

I furrowed my eyebrows at her. "Since when are you an expert in fevers?"

Kaily crossed her arms in front of her chest and let out a huff. "You are aware that I want to go into the medical field, right?" She made a short pause and I just kept looking at her before she let her arms fall at her sides again. "Okay, fine. I googled."

I couldn't help but laugh a little and I shook my head, sitting down on the couch letting my head fall back a little. Kaily sat down beside me, her knees tucked to her chest.

"Are you gonna tell me now, why you're so happy?"

"Kaily, come on. It's noth-"

"Please?" She dragged out. "I'm bored out of my mind?"

I looked at her, my eyebrows raised. "Nice to know I'm responsible for your entertainment."

She rolled her eyes at me and scooted closer, grabbing my arm. "That's not what I meant, Kells. Please, I wanna know what happened? Your mood was the complete opposite yesterday."

I let out a sigh and gave in. "Okay, fine. I was at a friend's, that's all."

She looked at me in confusion. "What happened at Justin's that causes you to be this happy?"

"I wasn't at Justin's." I simply stated, causing her to get even more invested. Her eyes widened, just as her smile and she started to shake my arm.

"Wait, so you met someone? Do you have a boyfriend now? Oh, that would explain so much!"

"Woah, calm down there, twinkle." I laughed, which caused her smile to drop. "I met someone, yes. But he's not my boyfriend."

"Not yet!" She wiggled her eyebrows at me, which made me laugh even harder. "Oh, but I need to meet him first!"

I shook my head at her. "You're unbelievable, Kaily."

"Oh, come on, Kells. I'm just excited. You never told me about a boyfriend before. He must be special."

"I just told you that he's not my boyfriend, like five seconds ago!"

"But why? You seem really happy, because of him."

This made me stop in my tracks. I was happy. But was Vic really the source of that? Couldn't it be something else? But no matter how hard I tried to repress it, the memory of how he had leaned in, how we almost kissed, came back to the front of my mind and before I could resist I felt the corners of my mouth lifting, just a little. I guess I couldn't deny it anymore.

I was falling for Vic.

"Yeah," I said absently. "I guess I am."

I could tell that Kaily was about to say something but the sound of vomiting caused me to spring to my feet to get to Nick as soon as possible.
