She's Dead, He's Evil ✓

Chapter 9

Hello! I am back with the final chapter of this story. It feels good to finally wrap this story up. I hope that I can tie this one off with a nice bow. Let's get into it.

Nightwing stands in front of the computer once again. He is staring at the screen watching a video feed of RH, Blue Beetle, and Green Beetle board the Reach ship. After the events of the summit, the alien species seemed to be leaving. Nightwing had sent a small group to wrap up things with the Reach. He winces when he sees Green Beetle be taken down by Black Beetle. He continues to watch them as his teammates start to get the upper hand in the situation. In a matter of minutes, Black Beetle is on the floor, his scarab destroyed. Nightwing smiles and speaks through the comms, "Good job, Blue. The mission was a success I would say."

"Thanks, Nightwing," Blue replies, "There is a bit of a problem though. When I connected with Black Beetle I found out something. The Reach has a plan for Earth. They are going to destroy it to erase all the tampering they've done."

"What? We never catch a break, do we? We can't just defeat the baddies and be done..." Dick mutters, "Do you know how they plan on doing it?"

"Some sort of Mechanical Field Disruptors are being placed all around the world," Blue Beetle states.

RH sighs, "Well, let's stop standing here and just go destroy them before they activate and start ripping the world apart."

"It's not simple," Blue Beetle states, "The tech is alien, so I doubt it's that easy to break. Plus, they're all already activated. They should already be doing what they are programmed to do. Black Beetle was here to double check that they were working before getting the heck off planet."

"Great. So, the world is going to be goners unless we do something," Dick says.

"Pretty much..." Blue Beetle says, "What do we do Nightwing?"

"Return to base. I'm going to be sending out an alert to all heroes that are willing to help out. I have a feeling we're going to need it," Nightwing states.

"Alrighty, see you later," RH says, before getting off the comms. Nightwing sighs before tapping on the screen. He frowns when a red alert button pops up. He clicks it and stares as multiple news stations pop up. They all report the same thing, natural disasters all over the world. Nightwing grimaces and quickly sends out an alert to all heroes. He gets pretty instant replies, some saying they will be at the Watchtower or that they will be on the ground helping civilians. Nightwing pushes his hand through his hair and shakes his head. What were they going to do? Suddenly, a loud beeping sound rings throughout the fairly empty Watchtower. Nightwing frowns when a video feed pops up on the screen. "Hello, Nightwing," Lex Luthor states.

"Luthor, how did you get on the United Nations' private feed with the JL?" Nightwing questions.

Luthor stares at him through the screen, "It wasn't that hard when you tell the Secretary General that you have a way to save Earth."

"Do you really?" Nightwing asks, "There's no way you developed something this fast."

"No, I've had this prepared for a while now. As you know, the Light had always planned on betraying the Reach. LexCorp has developed anti-Reach software that should act as a virus," Lex replies.

"Why should we trust you?" Nightwing asks with narrowed eyes.

Lex sighs, "You have no reason to, but you should know that I do not wish to see this world turned into dust..."

Nightwing nods his head, "Alright. Let me inform my team."

"Good. I will meet you right outside LexCorp tower with the virus," Lex replies before clicking a button and cutting off the feed.
