DIANNE'S POV

Seeing joe in his element, directing the cameras was pretty cool. We had gotten everything as we wanted it, the day had already been long. Getting trough the airport had been all right. Joe had everything under control, so I just had to walk with him. Security was no problem, we had grabbed a few snacks for the plane. I was pretty excited to fly in first class, something I had never done before.

We walked into the plane, the air hostess welcomed us. When we got to our seats, I was shocked. "WOW, this is cool" "what?" Joe smiles at my excitement. "the chairs, the tv's, everything." "they fold down to beds actually" "What? That is cool" "do you want window or aisle?" "aisle if that's okay" "fine by me." Joe put our carry-ons away and we both sat down. To be honest I wasn't the biggest fan of flying. My fear of heights didn't exactly help. I started scratching my wrist, I would be fine once we were up in the air. I just didn't like takeoff, landing or turbulence.

When the plane started taxying, I grabbed the armrests hard, watching the security video trying to catch every single detail. I felt Joes eyes on me, I kept looking at the video. "not a fan of planes?" he asks as the video ends and the air stewardesses walk the aisles to check that everything is ready for takeoff. I just shake my head in response. "let go of the armrests Di." I do as I'm told. His fingers intertwine with mine and he starts rubbing his thumb comfortingly over mine. I instantly calm down at the sense of his touch

"let's talk about something fun then, we have a bunch of days off when we're in California. Is there something you want to do?" "Can we go to the beach?" I finally get some words out "of course, we can, I was thinking we could go to Disneyland, if you're up for it? I'm not the biggest fan of rollercoasters myself but some of them are all right." I feel a smile growing on my face. "Disney? I'm already excited" He chuckles in response. And suddenly we're up in the air and the crew is serving us dinner. We both dig in, it's actually pretty good. It's still airplane food though. when dinners cleared away joe shows me how the chairs turn into a bed. The lights in the cabin are dimmed down, it's getting late in the UK. We take the armrest away so that we can watch a movie together. Both drifting to sleep after a couple minutes, after our exhausting day.

I'm waken up by the seat belt sign going on and the pilot speaking. "we have run into some unexpected turbulence, please fasten your seatbelts" I look at joe, he's awake to. He sees the panic on my face and his expression softens instantly. He offers me his hand again and I gladly take it. "Dianne, have you ever been surfing? Of course, you have your Australian." He chuckles at himself, and I smile. "yeah, why?" "Well do you know what turbulence is?" "No, just that it shakes, and I don't like it because I feel like the plane is going to fall down" "well turbulence is caused by strong wind currents, and they come on a wave, so it's kind of like the plane is surfing on the wind waves. And when the current breaks it's over" "did that make any sense at all, I'm tired" I nod at him, it actually did, in some weird way. The sign turns back off. "thank you, Joe." I smile at him

"Di? Are you asleep?" "no" "look I was thinking about something Byron said." "what" "well you and I, how about we just have fun for a few weeks, forget the fact that we're supposed to be colleagues. Only. Two weeks of us, just being in the moment. This way we can get it out of our systems? So, when we get back home, we go back to focusing on being colleagues again. Kind of like what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but extended into all of America?" Joe explains "just having fun, no strings attached?" I ask. "yes, there is less press that cares about me over there, so we won't be bothered by them. And we only have like 3 or 4 days of works, spread out over two weeks. So, we will be spending a lot of time together anyways." "I like it, what happens in America, stays in America. No strings just fun and back to colleagues after." I put up my pinky and he takes it. "pinky promise" we both whisper.

"Joe, aren't we technically there now?" I ask with a sly smile. "well, does international fairwaters count?" "I think they do, I'm kind of cold and I want a cuddle, I pout my lips a little" he opens his arms willingly. "come here then" I scoot over to him, arms against his chest. His arm rests on my waist. He wraps a blanket over us, and I sigh happily. "this is nice" he whispers into my hair and we both drift off again.
