a cause of great harm or misfortune.

"M-Mom? Am I... really cursed?"

Inko put her hand to her chest, her fingers clenching in guilt. She ran over to her crying son, stumbling as she landed on her knees and brought him into a hug. "No, Izuku... of course you aren't. Where did you get that idea?"

"B-But I killed him. I killed him..." Izuku brought his wrists up to his face and attempted to wipe away the salty drops from his eyes.

"It's not your fault. Don't worry. It was just an accident," Inko reassured the boy, though it seemed like she was trying to convince herself more than him. She fought to keep her own tears back, but soon she became a bawling mess herself.

"Mom..." Izuku lifted his head to reveal his tear stained cheeks.

"What is it, Izuku?"

"I don't think I deserve such a quirk."

~ ~ ~

The police had declared Hisashi Midoriya's case an 'unfortunate accident'. How else would they describe how he met his demise at the hands of his four year old son?

Inko had asked them to keep the incident a secret to prevent her son from being bullied at school, and so Hisashi's death was kept under the wraps. Izuku's dream to become a hero came to a sudden halt. He had stopped all of his daily activities and spent most of his time cooped up in his room, only occasionally coming out to eat and use the bathroom.

His behavior highly concerned his mom.

Around the time that Izuku should've started kindergarten, he had already decided that he would never use his quirk ever again, even if it killed him.

And thus was the beginning of Izuku Midoriya's new life.

"Everyone, this is Izuku Midoriya. Please treat him with respect," the teacher explained to the students, who watched Izuku with intense curiosity.

"U-Um... h-hi." Izuku meekly waved at his new classmates. Suddenly, he was surrounded by the other kids, all of them bombarding him with questions.

"Why did you join school late?"

"Do you wanna be friends?"

"Hey, Midoriya! What kind of quirk do you have?"

Izuku flinched.

"Oh yeah!" Another kid chirped in. "Maybe it's something cool like Kacchan's!"

'Kacchan?'

"No way," a boy with ash blonde hair chuckled from the back of the classroom. "A quirkless Deku like him can never match up with the likes of me!"

Everybody turned to look at Izuku, eyes widening in surprise. Hands came up between their ears, whispering soundless rumors.

Izuku knew that they would all find out at one point. It was an unavoidable subject after all, but something didn't feel right about the attention he was receiving. One thing was for sure now though.

They all knew.

From then on, Izuku was constantly surrounded by pointing fingers, quiet giggles coming from all directions.

"Hey, I heard that Deku is quirkless."

"Seriously? I didn't even know that they still existed."

Izuku pretended to not to hear them. He shut his eyes and continued to close himself off from the world. Just then, he felt a hand slap his back.

"Oi! Deku! Who said you could walk in front of me?"

"S-Sorry, K-Kacchan!"

Katsuki glared at the shorter boy before stepping ahead of him. "Stay out of my way."

"A-Alright," Izuku whimpered, staring at the back of the boy that had always been above him.

Notes:

Hi again! Here's another chapter from me! I know I should be focusing on my other story ("Hero's Aftermath" for those of you who don't know) but I really can't focus right now, so I'm using this story to rid myself of writer's block.

Enjoy the new chapter!
