Before Sam and Matt's little princess came into their lives, things were not always easygoing. Just like what others would say, all relationships are challenged.

Sam just got out of a 4-hour surgery that, unfortunately, did not go as planned. As the elevator closed Sam couldn't help but cry. Considering that she had a miscarriage a little over two weeks ago, holding her patient's hand while she died giving birth broke her. She hasn't been able to talk to anyone—not even Matthew—about it. She was broken but she hated showing her vulnerability to anyone.

Matthew went to come pick her up, hoping that today will be a better day. Hoping that today they can just be themselves again... maybe they can finally talk tomorrow.

He was waiting for the elevator. When the door opened, he saw the person he was looking for.

He saw Sam.

Both of her hands rested on her waist while her face was drenched in tears.

She saw him and she looked down, aggressively wiping her tears.

Matt looked left and right.

He sighed and entered the elevator, wrapping his arms around her.

Matthew was somewhat happy of seeing Sam finally have her time to express that heavy feeling inside of her. As a doctor, she is trained to contain her emotions but—especially with what happened—all feelings are due some time.

After not being able to do that, she swore his arms felt like home. She gripped his shirt. The way he held her gave her a feeling of safety... of security.

If there was any person that could make her feel better, it was him.

Losing the baby early on in the pregnancy took such a toll to their relationship. They tried their best but God knows how, for the pass few days, they've only been doing it for Miguel.

But in their heart of hearts, she missed him... and he did too.

Matthew had no idea what happened but all he wants is for her to know that he was there. No matter what.

"Matt, ang sakit. A-Ang sakit s-sakit."

He swayed her a bit and kissed her hair, "Shh... "

He pulls away, wiping her tears. Matthew held her close by the waist. She rested her head on his chest, trying to calm herself down.

They made their way to Matt's car and it was a silent ride home.

He pulled up in front of their house, looked the same from the outside.

"Sam, we should—"

She put a hand on top of his, "Matt, please, ceasefire muna. Kahit bukas na lang," her voice broke, "P-pagod na pagod na 'ko."

When she said that, he couldn't help but wonder if she meant it both ways. It scared him. Is she gonna let him go?

Matthew nodded. He opened the car door for her.

Surprisingly, she reached for his hand. "Matthew, tulog na si Miguel pero... can you stay?" He looked at her and saw the same longing that he has in her eyes, "Please, k-kahit sandali lang?"

He nodded, and they both head inside.

—————

They were both lying in bed. Sam was facing the window while Matthew was facing the ceiling.

They've been lying in the dark for a while and Matthew could tell that she was crying. No matter how hard she tried to keep quiet, he could see how her shoulders would shake every now and then.

He sighs and turns towards her. "Sam..."

Matthew puts an arm around her waist, "You okay?"

She shakes her head. Sam gives up and her sobs were more obvious.

"Okay lang na hindi ka okay... na hindi tayo o-okay." he rubs his thumb against her, arm still around her waist. "Sam, masakit din para saakin. Pero nandito lang ako." His eyes start to well up as well.

She slowly turns around and hugs him. At this point, Sam could care less if he hugged her back. All she needed to know was that she was still allowed to do that, to hug him like that... to have him like that.

It took a couple of seconds but when she felt Matthew's arms around her, she knew that they would be okay. Maybe not now, but soon.

There, she broke down in his arms. She was shaking from her sobs but Matthew held her steady. He was her anchor. All the walls that she built to conceal those feelings that she wasn't able to let go of was now unleashed and it hurt. It was like it happened yesterday.

"Shh... ilabas mo lang. Masakit, alam ko." Matthew kept kissing her temple but he never let her go.

"I-I'm really sorry we lost the baby. I'm so sorry."

With tears falling from his eyes, he nodded his head. "I know, Love, I know. I am too. But we're gonna be okay, hm? He or she is our little angel now."

When they pull away, they were both facing the window and Sam was still in Matthew's arms.

"Matt?"

"Hmm?"

"H-huwag ka muna'ng umalis...? I—"

"Shhh..." He kisses her shoulder, "Hindi kita iiwan."

"I-I'm sorry. I just—" and another set of tears fall, "I'm sorry I pushed you away. I—" She sighs.

"I'm sorry too. I should've stayed... I should've fought."

"Matthew, I don't deserve you. I pushed you away so many times.

Matthew pulled her closer, "Sam..."

"Matthew, I just want you to know... " She looked at him straight in his eyes, "I do love you. I mean, I know I haven't been saying it often and—"

Despite the tears, Matthew chuckled and kissed her. "Love, I don't need you to tell me those three words to know that you love me because I already know. Its implied everyday. And I love you too... v-very much so." He tried to laugh it off but his tears fall as well.

"Matthew?"

She put her palm on his cheek, "Babe, please come home."

Matthew wiped his tears before kissing her. "I already am."
