Beyond Thorns

In geography class one day we were learning about Scandinavian culture. We learned that Heavy Metal music is popular there. For an assignment, we had to get in a group, write a metal song, and create an album cover. I can only write random nothings, rather than rhythmic somethings, so I designed the album cover and left my other group members to write the song.

The cover had a horribly drawn dying rose with blood dripping from its thorns. I named the album "Beyond Thorns" because I thought it sounded cool. As I was thinking about it later "beyond thorns" is more than just two words I shoved together. It has an entirely different meaning, a much deeper one, at that.

If you are looking at a rose you must see beyond the thorns to find the striking blossomed flower petals. You have to look past the painful part to see the flower for all its beauty. I could sit here and list all of the situations this may apply to, but instead, I'll leave you to interpret it for yourself.

Thank you and goodbye.
