"josh! josh! josh! josh!" tyler rushes out, throwing a clean shirt at josh's sleeping face, jumping around trying to get his leg through his pant leg (skinny jeans are stupid).
"joshua, we are going to be late!" tyler shakes josh by his shoulders.
"so what, it's the last day." josh groans, grabbing the shirt tyler had thrown at him and sitting up.
"right. it's the last day." tyler emphasizes, pulling his shoes on his feet before throwing a pair of jeans at josh.
"let's go." tyler shouts, leaving josh's room to somehow scramble some kind of breakfast together. tyler was very unsure about why he was so frantic about getting to school on time. they'd been late plenty of times (they'd actually been every day that week and belmont was less than pleased), and this was the last day (there was nothing to miss out on. half the school wouldn't even be there.)
"tyler. calm down." josh laughs, coming down the stairs with their skateboards in hand.
"but—"
"no "buts", it's okay if we're late." josh sits at the bottom of the stairs, tying his shoes.
"i just want to go so we can get our cameras from belmont and be done with the day."
"then let's go, and get our cameras, and be done with the day." tyler's shoulders relax at josh's reassurance and he takes a deep breath, grabbing his board and heading towards the front door. josh follows, locking the door behind them.
they weren't late. in fact, they were early.
"how is it you can be twenty minutes late all week and then magically be the first people here the day that most people don't show up?" belmont laughs, as the two boys enter the empty classroom.
"ty was adamant on not being late today." josh rolls his eyes, earning a slap on the back of his head from tyler as they take their seats.
"i'm just so excited for this project, mr. belmont. honestly. it's kind of sick."
"i'm glad you think so, tyler. i think that you and josh are going to do very well."
"so we get our cameras today?" josh asks.
"yes. and i'll be checking off everyone's lists today. do you guys have yours?"
"absolutely! it's kind of long. definitely more than five things." tyler grins.
"the more adventures, the better." belmont smiles.
the rest of the class slowly filters in; brendon, dallon, debby, and jenna all come in at once. they take their seats and all turn to tyler and josh.
"we are shocked that you guys got here before us." dallon chuckled.
"they must've chose to not fuck this morning instead of getting ready." brendon giggles.
"when will you stop making gay jokes about my boyfriend right in front of me?" debby whines.
"would you rather me make gay jokes with your boyfriend without you?" brendon remarks.
"i'd rather no one make anymore gay jokes at all." jenna breathes out.
"why? are you scared of the big homo, jen?" tyler leans forward in his desk with accusing eyes.
"no, it's just annoying. it's obviously not true. i don't get why everyone has to talk about you taking it up the ass by your best friend, who, mind you, is in a very loving and very straight relationship."
"why does everyone assume i'm a bottom!" tyler huffs, slumping back into his seat.
josh was about to say something when the bell rang, signaling the beginning of class.
"okay, class!" belmont claps his hands, "get your lists out and pass them up. we're going to go over every single one together before i assign you cameras." everyone shuffles their papers forward and sits back quietly.
"up first, jenna and debby!"

brendon and dallon don't get arrested in this one
•paint a mural under the bridge
•see the hollywood sign up close
•shoot fireworks from a roof
•find the best pizza in san diego
•go to a different country"the first three are, uh... i told you guys not to get arrested." belmont chuckles, shaking his head. the rest of the lists were cute and cliche, which was to be expected with a project like this. everyone got their lists back, and received their cameras. the rest of the class period was spent signing year books, eating the fresh baked cupcakes jenna had brought for everyone, and playing with cameras.
tyler has a feeling in his chest, and he isn't sure what it is or what it means, but he is sure that it is uncomfortable and amazing all at the same time. he is also sure that that feeling intensified a million times over when josh touches his hand, or nudges his shoulder, or kicks his feet with his own under the lunch table, and especially when josh giggles. god, that stupid giggle.
when the school day is finally over and summer has officially begun, tyler and josh make their way home. while they ride home, tyler pulls out the camera and begins filming josh skate boarding from behind. josh turns around and flashes tyler an award winning smile and stops his board.
"so, uh, school just got out so i guess this is the start of our adventure." josh leans in close to the camera, grabbing the sides of the lens. he then lets go and starts back towards home. tyler flips the camera around towards himself and mumbles something once josh is out of ear shot.
"josh doesn't know it yet, but, i'm gonna make this the best summer ever."
